Worried about medication in pregnancy

I'm really worried about how much medication I'm on. I've spoke with the gynaecologist doctors and they say it's fine but is it? I'm on antibiotics for an infection along with 2 antisicknes medications ondansetron and metoclopramide. I'm scared its affecting my baby but without them my hyperemesis is unbearable.
Has anyone else had this and have positive outcome? I feel really uneasy about it.

You've been prescribed these by doctors and are under their care. Please please follow their advise. They have your best interests at heart and are treating you for valid conditions.

They wouldn't prescribe it if it wasn't ok.

You having an untreated infection which could become sepsis, or dehydration / salt imbalance due to vomiting could certainly be harmful to the baby. The doctors will have prescribed medications to keep you and baby as safe as possible. If you’ve any questions about particular medications chat to your Dr or pharmacist, but there’s no evidence of harm for loads of medications in pregnancy and your doctors will know which to avoid.
Hope you’re well soon xx

Please don't worry. Doctors don't prescribe in pregnancy without weighing up the risks. This pregnancy I am on ondansetron, metoclopramide and cyclizine. In my first pregnancy I was on those until birth plus steroids for 12 weeks due to severe HG and my baby was perfect. I couldn't get through a pregnancy without the medication sadly so for me it's a necessity.

I’m on those two meds too! I have moments of concern & wish I didn’t have too but then I get a fresh wave of nausea or vomiting & realise I have no choice. Before these meds, I honestly thought I was dying. They still aren’t perfect but they get me through most days..

You have to look after yourself with HG, the symptoms are more dangerous than the meds will ever be. I think of it this way, when thalidomide came into circulation, within a year or so it started to become very obvious of a strong link between it and severe birth defects. It was clear very quickly it was causing terrible problems. With today’s sickness meds, they’ve been taken for many, many years with no correlation between them and any problems whatsoever. There are not hundreds of Ondansetron babies with the same birth defects. In fact, the vast majority are perfectly healthy. And statistically, within that cohort of mums who took it, there will always be some babies who have issues but they sadly always would have.

That’s my pragmatic approach to a situation I wish I didn’t have to be in but just what my body apparently does in pregnancy! 😞

Sending lots of love, I hope your HG passes & doesn’t last all pregnancy 🧡 it’s a rough road, I fully understand your worries. Look after yourself!

@Bol87 that makes a lot of sense thank you. I'm trying my best to stay positive and starting to feel a bit more human than I did without them.
I hope you feel better soon too
