5 weeks pregnant - Bloody discharge

As the title suggests, I am currently 5 weeks and 1 day pregnant. I woke up this morning to blood stained discharge, this has continued throughout the day and I’m getting increasingly worried that it’s all going wrong. I spoke with the early pregnancy clinic who advised unless I had period flow they didn’t want to see me and I should monitor it.

We have been TTC for 18 months and required clomid to conceive. I’m not really sure why I’m writing this but I can stop thinking about it which i know isn’t helpful.

I was thinking about doing a first response pregnancy test in the morning but not sure if that’s a good idea Confused

Hi @Daiisy.

I’m not sure what to suggest really but didn’t want to read and run.

From what I’ve read, bleeding/spotting can be normal in early pregnancy as long as it’s not as heavy as a period and doesn’t last as long as a period I think.

It’s up to you whether you take a test... it might give you some indication about what’s going on x

Thanks for replying @Victoria315, I really appreciate your response Smile

I decided against doing a test this morning, I’m gonna wait it out and hope for the best! I have a bit more of a positive mindset this morning.

I am still having bloody discharge today but so far (fingers crossed) not as much as yesterday.

Well done for holding off on testing. If you test in a few days time and everything’s fine then you can assume you’re ok. Have you considered calling your GP in the meantime?

Try not to worry. I had brown discharge (old blood) through to 12/13 weeks. Was told it’s cervix changing/stretching and old blood passing. I’m 35 weeks now Smile
If it’s bright red/fresh then you should get checked out but at 5 weeks it’s hard to see on a scan... they may make you wait a few more weeks until it can be seen clearly on a ultrasound
Those first 12 weeks are always full of worry and what if’s just ‘try’ not to stress x

Hiya!

I'm in a similarly odd position.

I had what I thought was a 3 day period. 7 days clear, then for the past 5 days I have been spotting. 7 days ago I had 5 positive opks in a row. Thought somethings up. Did a pregnancy test...POSITIVE. Jaw dropped. Total confusion.

Went to the doctors yesterday, did another test. Positive again. I've been referred for a scan on Wednesday. She says unless I fill a pad in an hour there's nothing to worry about...I'm not so sure!

Doesn't feel real. I've bled and it's been red! Had pinkish discharge last 5 days. Liner usually has blood on it, but not soaked. Period was light, no clots, but red. It's odd. Not too sure what to think!
