Philips Avent or Tommee Tippee?

Not sure where to post this but I just have a question about sterilisers and bottle sets.

Has anyone used tommee tippee or the Philips avent? And if so which one did you prefer?

I've had both and preferred the avent sterilising unit. Our tommee tippee one burnt out after about 3 months - ended up having to throw all the bottles as couldn't get the smell of burnt appliance out of them (plus didn't want to risk it with baby).

Avent I found much more reliable

We've got tommee tippee closer to nature. We've been using them for just over 6 months and haven't experienced anything like the previous poster. We've got a mix of MAM and TT bottles but also had some avent as we borrowed a Philips electric pump from a friend, but the Avent bottles were quite leaky imo. MAM are good as you can sterilise straight in the microwave which is useful for travelling, we bought more of these after our baby was born for this reason. I've also got the MAM manual pump.

Tbh you end up buying into a brand, so to speak, as if you pump then you'll want the pump to fit your bottles etc as then it's easier. If you plan on breast feeding then I'd wait till after the baby is born, see how you get on in the first week or so, then decide if you want to invest in a pump (decide which one in advance) and take it from there.

Got the TT closer to nature bottles and steriliser. We changed bottles to MAM as baby seems to take better to these but still use them in the TT steraliser - tho can only clean 4 of those at a time

Iv had 2 tommee tippee sterilisers and they both broke within months. Im on baby #3, iv tried various sterilisers and bottles and found that nuby is best for me, the steriliser even has a setting to dry the bottles and the bottle teats have 3 air flow holes instead of 1 like normal bottles which reduces baby swallowing air and getting sicky or trapped wind x

Both of mine were breastfed and preferred Avent to Tommy Tippee
