Positive test 6 weeks after birth

Hi everyone,

I can't really believe I'm posting this. I got a faint positive pregnancy test this morning after being tempted to test because of symptoms and having had unprotected sex. I gave birth via c-section 5 1/2 weeks ago (6 weeks on Friday).

What I am wondering is if this is a new pregnancy or leftover hormones from my pervious pregnancy? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks x

I can still see a whisper of something on that second picture, if you can wait quite a few more days and just do one more test when it would be significantly different then I would, hope you're ok Flowers

I still see it as well. Clear Blue digitalis are not very sensitive, so don’t be disheartened by the negative. Try again with the FRER in about 4 days. Good luck!

FrappeLatte · 13/09/2019 11:04

How are you feeling @lunamoon1? Are you planning to test again?

blackcat86 · 13/09/2019 11:12

It's worth trying again on another first wee of the day with the clear blue digital tests. I had a BFN followed by a BFP the next day. DD is now 1! The GP told me that they arent as sensitive but have a very low rate of false negative so if you get a positive with one, you're definitely pregnant.

ahhgowan · 13/09/2019 11:24

I'm pregnant and it didn't show up on a clear blue digital for a while after my positive on a FRER

I tested again after a few days and the line remains just as faint, but still there. I mentioned to my doctor who said it was leftover HCG, so I guess everyone's time for HCG to return to 0 are different! Thanks for all your input tho x

Ask your doctor to do a HCG blood test, if it’s left over HCG the levels should be dropping.

GrannySquares · 13/09/2019 14:01

No way. I got my period 6 weeks after having a baby so I think there's a high chance you are pregnant again.

lunamoon1 · 13/09/2019 14:16

I'm going to wait and test next week I think, the line remained very faint even after 5 days so I think even if I am it's not looking good. He wasn't very good I must admit. He told me point blank it was 'IMPOSSIBLE' to get pregnant within the 6 week window after having a baby, which we all know is not true.

@lunamoon1 it could quite easily be left over hcg as it is very very faint. It would have got darker by now if it was a pregnancy x

Are you breastfeeding? If so it's quite unlikely that you are pregnant. The hormone prolactin prevents ovulation. There is the odd case but not many.
