Like I have a protruding abdomen already with belly button slowly coming out but not yet feeling any movement of baby inside
Should I be concerned.
It's my first pregnancy

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I think I only felt it for definite from 19wk so you certainly have nothing to worry about

TheVanguardSix · 08/09/2019 08:47

With my first, I felt him at 20+ weeks.

RobinsNest17 · 08/09/2019 08:49

I didn't feel my first until 22-23 weeks, but felt my second from 16 weeks. Placenta location can make a big difference.

Over the next few weeks you might start to feel some flutters. It can feel a bit like wind or possibly like there's a fish wiggling around and then they start to get a bit more proddy as you move through the weeks beginning with 2.

But 16/17 weeks would be quite early to feel anything properly in a first pregnancy so no need to worry at the moment.

BabanOnTheWay · 08/09/2019 09:49

Mine was around 19weeks 😍

Your entire baby is only the size of an lemon - its legs and arms are the length of a toothpick. So you won't be feeling much movement yet. I felt my first movements at 22 weeks , which is pretty normal.

Shmithecat2 · 08/09/2019 10:05

I didn't really feel anything much before 22/23 weeks, although I had an anterior placenta.

Wiltshirelass2019 · 08/09/2019 13:01

I first felt flutters at 15 weeks but it’s normal to not feel anything up to 24 weeks xx

Pinkflower23 · 08/09/2019 13:09

I Felt movements from 16 weeks. By 18 weeks I could see my belly moving. Pregnant with my first xxx

Frizzy1986 · 08/09/2019 16:39

I didn't feel anything until 19 weeks with my first and that was flutters. Even then, I wasn't convinced it wasn't wind until I started to feel proper movement around 22 weeks and realised it must have been something at 19 weeks. I had an anterior placenta last time.

Second baby this time and started to feel flutters around 17 weeks. Posterior placenta could have made a difference too.

You don't monitor movement patterns until around 26-28 weeks so there's still time to feel things. It's still small in there and soon you'll be wishing their feet weren't in your ribs as you try to sleep!

Flyingkites123 · 08/09/2019 19:40

I didn't feel anything til after 20 plus weeks. Its common to feel it later in first pregnancy

Cookit · 08/09/2019 20:27

First baby - felt something at 19 weeks but then barely anything for another week or two. Probably daily from 21 weeks or so.

Second baby - odd twinge from 16 weeks but definitely movement (albeit faint) from 18 weeks.

Nothing unusual about not having felt movement by now AT ALL.

Megan2018 · 08/09/2019 20:36

Nothing obvious until about 24 weeks, very slight sensation at 22. At my 20wk scan I could see baby moving away but felt nothing. Even now at 39+3 they are not strong.
Normal posterior placenta, but nothing felt for ages! I have just concluded that my core is so strong (I’m a rider) that it doesn’t penetrate in the same way for me.
Tonight I can see my bump moving but not feel it! Weird.

Megan2018 · 08/09/2019 20:38

Sorry meant to say I’ve had 6 growth scans and baby is moving entirely normally, is actually very active. But MW can’t explain why I can’t feel it either!

PavlovaFaith · 08/09/2019 20:49

18w with DD and I think about 19.5w with DS.

ohdearymemumof3 · 09/09/2019 02:40

#1 was 20 weeks.. #2 was 14 weeks.. #3 was 21 weeks!! So dont worry all different x

BobTheFishermansWife · 09/09/2019 03:14

Please don't worry, a lot like other posters, I started to feel a sensation like a combination of lower stomach hunger pains and gas (sounds horrible but the only way I can explain it) at 21 weeks and then at around 24/25 weeks it turned into more bubble popping and by week 32 it became obvious movement as he started to kick my ribs.

fonxey · 09/09/2019 05:17

Movements happen from 16weeks. I have an anterior placenta so i think it took me until week 22 to feel a definite something and she's been getting stronger as the day goes by.

Don't worry. S/he'll soon be banging away at your insides.
