so I've been given a high risk of downs, based on a 4.3mm NT and i guess my bloods anyway the downs itself doesn't bother me and as such me and my OH have opted not to have invasive tests only harmony to confirm, we dont want a miscarrige risk if were not terminating.. my worry is what if its something else? ive read lots of positive outcomes but wondering if anyone else had these odds and came out ok thank you Smile

Hi, I didn’t have these odds however our son had ventrimegly which is enlarged ventriculs in the brain, they said it could have indicated downs, we didn’t want invasive tests as we did not want to risk loosing him but we paid for a private test done which is tested on your blood which can detect if your baby has downs are not, it was £150 three years ago. Not sure if this helps

Mine did, we had a lot of tests done and scans. I hope your does too x

NIPT testing (presuming that is what you are having) is a screening test, not a diagnostic test. It will give you another probability, not a certainty. Unfortunately only an invasive test can tell you that.

Did they (your screening midwife/consultant) say what else the high NT could be/ mean? Any other soft markers?
Good luck in any case x

We had a similar NT measurement and odds of 1:5. Due to a previous mc we didnt want invasive testing. Harmony test results came back within a week as 1:10,000. We were happy not to test further.

It is not yet a diagnostic test but I believe it will be in the future. Obviously only tests for a limited no of syndromes.

Dd was born with no issues.

so pleased babs :)... tini17 im aware its another screening test but its more accurate, and i dont personally see the point in risking miscarrige if you plan to keep the baby anyway, but if you chose the other tests thats ok its personal choice :) no other markers as far as I know i wasnt told of any thanks for your message... madeforthis im so glad you got good results, its people like you that fill me with hope, im worried if its not downs its something else im glad in your case it wasnt :)
