Hi All

Im 6 weeks 5 days and feel utterly horrible.

I was diagnosed with a uti on Wednesday and have been on co amoxiclav 125mg three times a day.

I defo feel better as in fever and acute back ache has gone.

Quite hard to pin point remaining symptoms but generally feel unwell, exhausted, mild nausea, occasionally throwing up, my body temperature fluctuations so one second I’m cold the next I’m boiling (although this doesn’t show on a thermometer), boobs sore beyond sore, joints achy, and rampant thirst.

Is this the tail end of the uti and the side effect of the antibiotics (I’ve still got 4 days to go) or is this my new normal?

Any ideas helpful as I literally don’t know how I’m going to make it to work with my commute let along manage a the day on Monday feeling like this.

The second set of symptoms is very much how I felt with pregnancy about half went at about 20 Weeks , exhaustion thirst and feeling cold and hot stayed but everyone is different

Big congratulations x

Get food bags that have no holes and the
Up ( large ones ) put in bag so you can throw up Anywhere and everywhere ( I did )

Try to Not let blood sugar levels drop
To much graze it helps
Ease the nausea... have a biscuit or I liked appletizer for a while
10-15 mins before you leave your bed .

Don’t feel bad if when you get home you need to go straight to bed or nap . Sleep is your friend.

If you need to let your boss Know in the end I had to because I was throwing up all the time ... and I couldn’t leave the bathroom one morning ... he was more understanding if I got to work a bit late.

Speak to the doctor about nausea if you need to they can give you tablets.

Those do sound like normal pregnancy symptoms unfortunately

It's probably a bit of both. I've been pretty much bed and sofa bound for 2 weeks with horrendous nausea and retching. But the uti and antibiotics may also make you feel crap for a while longer. Xx

Thanks guys

@janey15 have you been to work or just off sick?

I don’t really understand if you can take time off for morning sickness or if they expect you to drag yourself in.

@Newmumma83 thank you for all the tips :-)

I'm currently signed off for two weeks despite not actually vomiting. I'm a primary teacher and was desperate to start the term but I can barely get from my bed to the bathroom without retching. I could barely get food down and was waking myself up dry heaving! I'm a bit better now I've got some tablets but still getting regular bouts of nausea and retching, very weak and no way I could manage a hectic 10 hour day on my feet. If I worked in an office with a convenient toilet I could potentially drag myself in but I'd be pretty useless! It depends on your job and the severity of your symptoms. When I'm bad I just have to lie down and the meds turn me into a bit of a zombie!

@janey15
Thank you, definitely sounds like you’ve done the right thing. Really hope you feel much much better soon.

I think I’m going to have to take Monday /next week sick if I’m still like this.

I’m healthcare practitioner and manager in a busy office with a 75 min commute each way on a packed train.

I don’t think I’d even survive the walk to the station or be any use to clients or staff...Just the thought of getting dressed makes me heave just now!
