Is PPROM likely to happen a second time round?

With DS my waters broke at 36 weeks without me being in labour. This triggered labour to start around 12 hours later.
I haven’t asked the midwife about it yet but just wondering if anyone has experienced it a second time round? A friend of mine has had it with all her children and it happened earlier each time. I know there wasn’t a specific cause for it so it would be hard to say if it was likely to happen again just wondering if anyone’s experienced it more than once?

Thanks!

If there was no specific cause identified and treated then yes it is likely to happen again but a birth at 36 weeks doesn’t really count as premature so you may struggle to get extra appointments / scans on the NHS

@Teddybear45 thank you! I wasn’t worried about extra appointments etc as 36 weeks isn’t that early I just wondered if it was something that could potentially happen even earlier with subsequent pregnancies but I know there’s no real way of knowing

My waters went at 35+3, with dd born at 35+6. Same as you, I was not in labour when my waters broke, and was allowed to wait 72 hours before they were going to induce me, but I went into labour naturally. I am currently 21 weeks pregnant with dd2 and was given a cervical measurement scan as part of my 20 week scan to rule out any issues there but nothing additional and have not been referred to the consultant as scan came back as normal. So no indications that it will happen again, or not. Will just have to wait and see!

Nope not at all. I had PProm at 36 weeks with my first. No reason ever found. I went into hospital and 12 hours later labour started.

With my second I had a series of sweeps at 37 weeks to start things off and DC born at 38 weeks exactly. I was going to be induced due to baby's size but there was no indication that I would have gone early again if it wasn't for the sweeps.
