Feeling nauseous & faint immediately after a sweep

My midwife gave me a sweep this morning (40+1) and it wasn’t exactly painful just really uncomfortable. Immediately after I felt nauseous and then incredibly faint, in fact I thought I was a lot to faint! She was talking to me and I could barely hear her, everything sounded odd and under-water-like and seemed slow-motion. I’ve never actually fainted before but this is what it felt like. She sat me up and gave me some water and I recovered pretty quickly.

Has anyone experienced similar? I have been googling it and it’s not very common but supposedly caused by the shock to your cervix and the rush of hormones being released.

Not concerned but a bit surprised as i was never aware of this side affect from any friends!

Since the sweep I have been feeling a bit crampy and had some slightly mucusy spotting. So fingers crossed it has done the trick and things start moving soon!

Out of all my sweeps, I've had a few, when this happened I gave birth that night 😁

Not from a sweep but I’ve had a lot of errmmm interventions down there in pregnancy and non preg. Anything that touches or dilated my cervix makes me feel dreadful

Yes, and every time being examined whilst in labour I immediately vomited after! No idea why it happens though. Hopefully you won't need another 😁

Thanks for the responses. Quite bizarre! At least it’s not just me!
