Anxiety about BP!!!

I’ve just had a check up apt, my BP was reading 135/75.
When I had it checked 5 weeks ago it was 115/80. I’ve been anxious throughout the whole pregnancy so can’t understand why it’s changed so much now. I feel so down and miserable ☹️

It's just a snapshot in time. It has not gone into high blood pressure range but if you keep making yourself anxious about it then you will drive it higher. Blood pressure varies by day and even during the day. Was the midwife concerned?

That's not outside the realms of normal, don't worry. Your midwife would let you know if there was anything to be concerned about.

That's fine!
One thing to consider is that most midwives don't check blood pressure properly. You should be seated with your feet on the floor for a minimum of 5 minutes without speaking. Most of the time you walk in and they slap the cuff straight on!
I HATE having my blood pressure taken and am always worried it'll be too high. I bought myself my own cuff so I could check it at home. When at the clinic my systolic is always between 130-140. At home though it's always 110-120. That being said, I had an appointment today and the midwife took my pressure at the end of the appointment after I'd been sitting down and it was 115/70.
You can get a monitor on amazon for around £15 so they're not expensive.

Sorry for being long winded! Good luck with your pregnancy 😀

@RLI1105- I’m glad I’m not the only one who hates it 😂.
I’ve been more anxious than I was today in other appts and it’s been low at like 110??? That’s why I’m confused as I even listened to my mindfulness app before I went in 😂.
I had a long walk before the appt so wonder if that may also have effected it? God knows I hate anxiety lol xx

Some people have lower blood pressure than others! Just remember that if there was a problem then your midwife would tell you straight away 😊

How many weeks are you? It's normal for BP to start to rise in the third trimester. That BP is normal so I wouldn't worry too much.

I've had high BP in both pregnancies and it was managed with no ill effects to either me or baby so even if it does get a bit high there are things they can do to help.

@Sunshinegirl82- I’ll be 26 weeks at the weekend. I’m a bit of a control freak and like to know why things happen with my body. I’ve never had a BP reading as low as 115 which I had about 5 weeks ago and don’t feel I’ve done anything different for it to be 135 like today. It just plays on my mind.
Pleased to hear they looked after you and Bubbas 😘 xx

BP drops in the second trimester and then begins to rise in the third. I know it's anxiety inducing but BP is only a snapshot and as long as your BP is in the normal range then I wouldn't worry.

I have a home monitor and mine varies quite a bit for no reason. If you're finding that you're really very anxious it might be worth a word with your midwife.

@Sunshinegirl82- thank you that’s so helpful 💜.
Im having counselling, so not sure if there’s anymore that can be done for me. I’ve got another appt in a few weeks so
will see how I’m doing then 😊 xx
