Hungry but nauseous?

So I'm 4 weeks and 4 days pregnant with my second, not very far along I know, but for the past week I've been feeling nothing but absolute starvation! That hungry I feel sick, then I eat and I'm fine, until about half an hour later. If I keep eating this much I'm going to end up a whale by the time baby comes!

Any one else feeling this way this early on ?

Hi ladyk, yes it was the same for me. I was about 5 1/2 weeks when it started but you described exactly the same symptoms I was having. Lasted until about 18 weeks too! Sad But it passes. I did find drinking LOADS of water with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice really helped. I never wanted to drink it, had to force it down tbh, but staying well hydrated kept the hunger and sickness at bay. Good luck and congratulations on your pregnancy!

I was exactly the same and due to my job I just had to keep eating to not feel nauseous! Try different fruits maybe?

I had to eat non stop with my third otherwise I felt so sick. I did put on weight but I lost it all within nine months so I don’t regret just stuffing my face!

I've had the same though it didnt kick in until about 6.5 weeks. Something I found helpful was eating a couple of ginger biscuits or drinking a small glass of juice to take the edge off, while I was making a meal. Ginger is good for digestion and the sugar in fruit juice gives your blood sugar a boost (nausea is usually worst when your blood sugar is low)

I was also feeling the same untill around 16 weeks. Although I haven't put on much weight, I'm currently 37 week's and wondering how I haven't put on any weight apart from my stomach getting big. Being pregnant makes me hungry most of the time. Eating helps me to not feel nauseous. Don't feel guilty for eating, maybe try and eat fruit and cereal? Or suppose what ever it is you can stomach eating.

Another one here who is exactly the same, I'm nearly 12 weeks and as soon as my stomach is empty I get horrendous nausea. I've put on so much weight already but when I spoke to my midwife she said to eat what I can stomach and then when I'm feeling better I can worry about healthy eating. I have two other DCs to look after and DH works full time so Id rather keep eating then feel sick while trying to look after them. Pregnancy is a tricky business and you have to do what you can to get through it

Thanks girls, glad its not only me feeling like this! Hopefully it won't last the whole pregnancy, I was just so shocked that I've stated feeling like this so early on in the pregnancy, last time I'm sure it wasn't until I was about 10 weeks that I started feeling nauseous. Have any of you girls told your work yet? Xx
