I’m eating too much junk food!

So normally I’m generally very healthy. Not perfect. But generally I eat well. As soon as we started trying for a baby I kicked it up, stopped all caffeine, not touched a drop of alcohol and really prioritised a healthy diet. And then came the hyperemesis and I was barely eating a thing! For 5 weeks I could only stomach tiny portions of anything. After a few hospital trips and a LOT of medication I’m now functional (Yay!!) and 12 weeks! But I can’t stop eating junk! Honestly, I have to eat every 20 minutes or so and even though I keep healthy snacks with me I just keep eating chocolate and crisps and sweets!!

Sorry!! I pressed add too quickly!! So my question is.. is this okay? I’m just really paranoid that my baby’s gonna have diabetes at this rate but I just can’t seem to not eat junk! I do force myself to eat my fruit and healthy snacks but then I’m just heading straight back to the biscuit jar! I don’t care about me being unhealthy for a while but I just wanted to do everything I could to make sure my baby was healthy.

I'm pregnant with no. 4 and I've been the same in every pregnancy. All I crave is carbs and I'm normally quite strict with carbs.
I remember going for a cream tea very heavily pregnant with my 1st and asking to swap the tea for hot chocolates and one of the scones for a slab of cake! The poor boy serving me was only about 15 snd must have thought I was crazy. He still only charged me for a cream tea.
So far, my eldest 3 have been very healthy and I've managed to rein it in as soon as they are born and have returned to a healthy weight.
I do try and trick myself as much as possible, like a child, by adding in grated veg to pasta and making roast veg lasagna and I snack on dried fruit so I'm getting fiber. And I've started having omlet for breakfast (today followed by 3 slices of malt loaf) so I have a protein boost to fill me up. Half my problem is that I am so hungry all the time!

I was worried about this too, my midwife said to eat what you can stomach and worry about healthy eating later when you feel better. Like you I have horrible nausea, especially if I'm hungry, so have been stuffing my face. I did the same with DS and worried about how it would affect him but he's a happy healthy 2 year old who has no problems (he was 9lb at birth though 😂)

Honestly, I was the same with my first and the same now I'm pregnant with my second. I'd just go with what your body is telling you. I take pregnacare as well, just to make my body is getting the vitamins it needs. But I've been like this on and off the whole way. The 2nd trimester, I craved healthier foods as well but at the minute I'm unable to eat much of anything due to third trimester pregnancy sickness so I'm basically living off Halloumi lol! Xx

I was similar but I just made sure I ate fruit and healthy snacks as well to balance it out and make sure I wasn't just hungry.

Also porridge is great! I ate loads at this stage and calmed down loads now at 32 weeks. Just keep aware also dont buy too much as it tempts you in the house! I think being tired doesn't help.

Also make sure you just never eat things you're not tempted by e.g. I didn't crave soft drinks so make sure I never have them
