I am just over 37 weeks pregnant and look ready to pop!!

I keeo getting tightenings but just in my right side, they last for about 30 seconds and then go, the pain is not unbearable but it is there, i am confused as to weather this is the start of something or am i just wishing it was.
It is my first baby, any advise really appreciated!!

There is a kind of contraction called Braxton-Hick, which is often referred to as 'practise contractions'. They do not mean labor has started. I have them at 26 weeks and am told not to be concerned. You could have those. Somebody who knows more will be around shortly.

Thanks, I have had braxton hicks in the past and then they seemed to have stopped. I have just started to make notes of when they are coming. roughly about every 15 minutes so far. Is it normal to just have them in one side, i always thought it would be a tightening across the whole of my tummy!?!

Hi.

Mine started on one side... I think as they get more painful they will eventually spread or it may just be because they are not yet that intense.

The advice that i was given by my midwife was to get in a warm bath and relax, go for walk, make some lunch. If it is the start of labour it will more than likely be a long process so just try to keep busy.

Fingers crossed that it is time for you to meet your LO.

Keep us updated.

Hi mine started with mild tightenings. It wasnt until 2hrs later that they started to get a bit more uncomfortable and I knew that it had started.
Best advice is to sit tight and wait and see. If they continue or get stronger then youll know its started.

Good luck

Thanks, i guess time will tell. I am actually off this afternoon for lunch and them some shopping, so lots of walking may bring things on.
