Severe Nausea

I’m suffering terribly with severe nausea and I’m only 9+6 weeks. I’ve lost quite abit of weight and can barely eat or keep food down. My belly has shrank massively - a few chips and I feel full! I’m worried that if I’m not eating the baby isn’t getting what it needs.. also haven’t been able to take folic acid for around 3 weeks because as soon as I have them I vomit (I would prefer if we didn’t talk about it as just the thought of it makes me vomit too) but with me not being able to take it and not eating I’m worried I’m going to harm my baby and have a misscarriage or something 😓 can anyone recommend anything?! I have anti sickness tablets but they don’t seem to be working and I’m ready to cry and scream 😓

hiya, I had really bad vomiting in the first trimester and had trouble keeping tablets down too. generally the baby will take what it needs from you and your stores so it's you that end up feeling terrible. I wouldn't panic too too much in the first trimester as baby is still so small. however I would speak to your doctor/midwife. not only does that sound really miserable for you but it can be dangerous because of dehydration etc. they can then assess if you should be given anti sickness medication or if dehydration is a risk. I had mine until 14/15 weeks and it did eventually pass - hang in there hopefully you wont have too much longer of it to go x

@tashy777 deffo speak with your midwife as I have hyperemesis which sounds very much like what you have. I'm 9weeks+5days and been in hospital twice and going again tomorrow for more fluids due to dehydration. I've lost around 12lbs in 5 weeks due to not keeping food down even with anti sick meds that dont work. I'm gonna ask about vitamins etc when I go in as I cant keep anything down.
Please get some help. Dont suffer in silence. Best option is EPU or A and E as I've seen 3 gps who were all completely useless. The hospital is the best help. I really hope you can get some relief. I'm literally praying this sickness goes away as I've been stuck in bed for 4 weeks now!
Best of luck hun. Hope you get sorted.

I do think I’m massively dehydrated, I am trying to make a conscience effort to drink more water but I feel like I can never quench my thirst at all! I think I’ll speak to my midwife about it. Thank you x

I feel for you, I had it bad in the first trimester, I used to drink lemon and ginger tea and it soothes the sickness I'm now at 23 weeks and still from time to time get it but it has settled a lot, keep with it you will get there, ice cold water also helps I find xx

I can't even keep my water down, I'm just bringing it back up. I look ill when I look in the mirror and I've lost so much weight that my work trousers that were tight before I fell pregnant are literally hanging off me. I'm really struggling to eat anything or keep anything at all down, I don't like tea at all so I've been trying ginger biscuits but haven't really felt a benefit at all. I know I'm dehydrated because I have a constant headache and my pee is very dark. I'm 10 weeks today and just hoping that after the 1st trimester things will get better cause I don't know how much longer I can go on like this for :(

I had that. Really bad until week 13. Genuinely thought I was dying in comparison to first pregnancy, where I experienced standard sickness.

Turns out we've got twins on the way! You might get a surprise at your scan too!

Good luck OP. It will pass Flowers

@tashy777 I came into hospital this morning and found my ketones 4+ which is the highest level of dehydration from what I've been told. I'm now on multiple bags of fluids and anti sickness medication to try to help. Hope you get sorted soon.
