Hi all. So I'm due my first in May of next year. I only found out I was pregnant on Saturday. My husband is great but I have no friends at this stage they either have grown up kids or arent planning to any time soon
I have two sisters. One with grown up kids who she doesn't see and one who's getting married soon so is in her own little bubble.

I would just like someone to talk about all of this as I'm really anxious about the next 9 months.

Thanks for reading :)

From nhs

Do not use a home doppler (heartbeat listening kit) to try to check the baby's heartbeat yourself. This is not a reliable way to check your baby's health – even if you hear a heartbeat, this does not mean your baby is well.

It's just not a good idea to use these things Smile

ChampooPapi · 28/09/2019 22:00

@Shelbustotherescue the app you are using should be banned, it's long been criticised for creating a 'false heartbeat' putting mother and baby at risk. I'm sorry but you can't be certain it was the babies heartbeat, especially from this particular app as it has serious issues with picking up the mother's heartbeat or other internal sounds that really do sound like a fast beating featus heart.

I don't want to hurt your feelings but these apps are incredibly dangerous and no one should be advertising be their use on this thread

ChampooPapi · 28/09/2019 22:03

People have literally tested that shell app on their dogs and it's brought up a fetal heartbeat.

Avoid

Shelbustotherescue · 28/09/2019 22:08

@ChampooPapi okay, well I didn't know any of that, I just saw it as a Facebook add and downloaded it and when I tested it on my heart and my partners it sounded different to the one I found low on my belly and it was actually a really lovely moment to find it given all the worries I've had and thought it would be nice to share with everyone. I didn't mean to cause as much offence as I clearly have - I'll consider myself told off

november90 · 29/09/2019 04:20

@Wishful30 I don't have an advice but here for you to chat if and when you need to. Keeping everything crossed for you and baby xxx

zoemelb · 29/09/2019 07:24

@Mystie: hope you are you going. I have a basset and a corgi. We had a good time yesterday. I feel better emotionally (just try to think of the positive things now that I may still carry the baby) but physically I'm feeling like my pregnancy symptom (light dizziness in the morning) is coming back this morning but when I went to pee this morning, again light red discharge when I wiped, hopefully it will stop again soon (no cramps though so far thanks goodness). 5 days is so long! My scan is Tuesday, I'm tempting to call EPU again on Monday if they can do it Monday instead of Tuesday, another day of waiting is killing me. :-(
@flossy12: congrats
@Sunshine8888: congrats, always good to hear good news from someone who also bled and lack of sickness.
@Wishful30: hope you will feel better, keeping everything crossed for you.

Mystie · 29/09/2019 07:38

@zoemelb I know what you mean about the wait I've got 8 days to go and I know it will seem like 8 years! Every morning I think about trying to bring it forward but know that they may not be able to see anything this early anyway so it's best to wait. Still bleeding though but no pain so fingers crossed this baby's hanging in there! Hope you had fun with the dogs and have something nice to do today to take your kind of all of this x

Wishful30 · 29/09/2019 07:39

Morning ladies,

So I took some paracetamol for the cramps last night and took myself off to bed.
Woke up in the middle of the night for a pee to find... not much really🤞🏻
Woke up at my usual time just now (why can I never sleep in?!) little brown spotting. Next to no cramps and....
poas - very much still pregnant 🤰 lovely dark line.
I'm very surprised! keeping everything crossed. Just hope it's not a threatening miscarriage.
Going to take it easy today and thank my lucky stars my little nugget has made it this far.

Thankyou for all the support, it really does mean so much and is so comforting to have you all here to talk to.
Hope everyone else is doing ok xx

Wishful30 · 29/09/2019 07:42

@ChampooPapi I downloaded it and couldn't even pick up my own heartbeat 😂

facevalue · 29/09/2019 08:16

@Shelbustotherescue don't worry about it. i think they were trying to explain about the app out of love/ care not meaning to tell you off. i think it's easily misinterpreted on here just reading text.
it happened to me when i said a reassurance early scan is not really reassuring because it's the 12 week scan normally that is done when the miscarriage risk is low and there were sarcastic and harsh comments as a backlash. i apologised if anyone was hurt by the innocent explanation.

remember all emotions and hormones are running high in this stage of pregnancy and people make assumptions because we don't really know who we r talking to

as an outsider reading the comments i honestly don't think they were telling you off xxx get used to it because this will continue even after you have baby - you will believe something and someone else will criticise you for it x let's all just be kind

olivesandpecans · 29/09/2019 08:19

Hope everyone is doing ok and thinking of those going for scans. My nausea has been horrendous the last two days- I had no let up from it at all yesterday. I’ve had food aversions too so am forcing myself to eat even though all I want is to be sick. I’m 6 weeks and with my 2dc this tends to carry on til about 16 for me. I’m supposed to be going for brunch with the family this morning. Should be interesting Smile

ChampooPapi · 29/09/2019 08:25

@Wishful30 count yourself lucky you didn't I think. Women who have been 'reassured' by what they are convinced is their babies heartbeat have missed signs that their baby was actually in distress or had slowed down in movement ect.

Some of these cases have resulted in the worst outcome. Dopplers and phone apps are listed on your pregnancy pack as not to be trusted or used.

It's important that this information is on this thread because it could actually save the life of someone's baby. Listen to your body, not a Doppler or phone app that could be fake Smile

Helensss · 29/09/2019 08:26

Hi everyone! I am 8 wk 2 and reading all your details of early scans has made me want to push for one. I had 3 very early miscarriages this year, all about 5 weeks, I was referred to recurrent clinic then found out I was pregnant again. I was still going to go to my appt last week but I saw the midwife and she said there was no point as they wouldn’t be able to do anything. I did have a tiny bit of spotting at 5 weeks, just light brown but it went away and my symptoms have got increasingly stronger.. nausea massive sore boobs, headaches and exhaustion. I want to relax but I’m still so nervous. My app says I’m due 8th May and congratulations to everyone else 😊😊 xx

facevalue · 29/09/2019 08:28

@Bumpingalong84 i'm so so sorry to hear about your 12 weeks horror last May 😢😢 it's so scary and i hope it all goes well this time. i'm holding my breath until that 12 week scan before i can relax fingers crossed.

@Wishful30 sorry i'm only reading backwards because i'm using the site on a phone ( can't be bothered to sit on a PC) i really hope your scan will show things are progressing .. i know some women bleed in pregnancy and still have a healthy baby at the end x keep us posted / fingers crossed

Wishful30 · 29/09/2019 08:32

@facevalue got my 1st docs appt tomorrow. Can't imagine they'll send me for a scan at 5+2. But that would be nice!
I've moved from London to Lincolnshire and it's definitely easier and more relaxed up here for appointments. A lot less people I guess. I'm expecting they'll send me for bloods and a repeat in 3 days to check my hormone levels. 🤞🏻

facevalue · 29/09/2019 08:35

@Helensss welcome to the group. congratulations on your pregnancy. i'm so sorry about your heartbreaking previous experiences. i'm 7 weeks today and also had a MC last may so like you on my toes until a proper 12 week scan x hang in there

@olivesandpecans i'm the same off most food it all tests chemical- i even started asking my husband to taste some things to check i'm not going crazy ( he says oh that delicious when it tastes like shampoo to me!)

has anyone noticed that greasy fatty food is more tolerable? i usually hate greasy food but i ate in nando's on friday and had a piece of kfc chicken both did not make me sick !!! so now i plan to eat fat and avoid sugar

facevalue · 29/09/2019 08:38

@Wishful30 that's really good. sound like a good plan. i live in london and definitely feel you r lucky to have escaped the kettle market of the big smoke ... i dream to move out soon when i win the lottery or my husband accepts this lol

Helensss · 29/09/2019 08:40

@facevalue thank you, and to you!! I’m hopeful that this one is sticking but half of me thinks there’s nothing in there until I get to the scan! Re foods I’m totally craving McDonald’s all the time, it’s terrible 😂

@Wishful30 good luck for your appt tomorrow xxx

Wishful30 · 29/09/2019 08:43

@facevalue only been here since May. Best thing we ever did. Big scary move as left all but one of the family down south.
My folks and sister are in Essex along the coast.
But of a treck to visit, but surrounded by a lovely community with friendly people and countryside.
Only downside is, should it come to it, we have been approved for ivf, in London they give you 3 shots, in Lincolnshire you only get 1 😑

Mmr224 · 29/09/2019 09:01

Hi there I'm 5+4 and due on 28 May. We did IVF so waiting for a scan at 7 weeks to see if everything is OK.

facevalue · 29/09/2019 09:09

@mmr224 welcome and congratulations. your scan must at the end of the week then? exciting
hope it all goes well

Wishful30 · 29/09/2019 09:18

Hi @Mmr224
Welcome to the group. I'm due May 30th 😀

Bumpingalong84 · 29/09/2019 09:21

Thank you @facevalue it was super hard, especially after seeing a heartbeat at 8weeks. You think everything will be ok. I’m fully aware tho it’s so rare for that to happen, just incase anyone is reading and had an 8 week scan.

So anxious for tuesdays scan. I don’t have a huge amount of symptoms, tiredness and tender big boobs is about it. With my DD I had bad nausea.

@Wishful30 really pleased to hear it all settled over night and hoping your appointment goes well tomorrow.

Mmr224 · 29/09/2019 09:22

Thanks, bit nervous about the scan.

Wishful30 · 29/09/2019 09:26

@Bumpingalong84 good lick Tuesday xx
I've been reading up on symptoms as I have slightly tender boobs and a bit of reflux. That's it.
Apparently it's more common to suffer a lot of symptoms and nausea with girls and not have much with boys 🤷🏻‍♀️
