No weight gain with twins from 8-12 weeks?

Hi everyone,

I had my 12 week scan last week, and wrapped up in the excitement of that I've only just realised that my weight was exactly the same as it was at my 8 week midwife appointment. I am having twins as well! Is this anything to worry about? I haven't got any more appointments for 3 weeks and don't want to bother my midwife in between unless I have to.

Sorry just to add - I've been very lucky with morning sickness, which stopped at 9 weeks. Even then I was only sick about 4 times in total, despite feeling very nauseous all the time.

I remember worrying about this when pregnant with twins and my consultant said it was fine unless you are very under weight.

I only put on 20lbs during the whole pregnancy, compared to 3 stone on my single pregnancies.

Babies weighed nearly 12lbs between them when born and I was less than my pre pregnancy weight within a week.

If you've had your scan, that means you've seen your babies and they would have told you if there was anything wrong with their growth etc. And they'll be looking at your weight and let you know if it's anything to worry about. I lost 2kgs in that same period (singleton pregnancy) and they haven't flagged it up. Could also just be something trivial like it being a different scale, or levels of hydration. I don't think you need to worry if your scan was fine, and they'll ring you (at least here they do) if anything's showing up as alarming on your bloods etc. Enjoy the sickness-free mornings!!!

Thank you both very much - I'll try not to worry then Smile
