Hey lovely ladies hoping someone may be awake to give me words of wisdom .

28 weeks with 2nd baby, husband gave me a cold which started a few days ago with an earache.

Have gone to bed with horrible chills and just woken up boiling hot. Checked temp and I have peaked 40c

If I take covers off I get painful cold chills. Covers on I am boiling.

Do I need to worry/phone 101 or just muddle on through and let it pass my system.

Meant to be flying to brussels on friday (non brexit related) but really not feeling it.

I am due to see midwife on Wednesday as well

Thanks all

Phone 101 or your out of hours GP.

That’s quite a temperature.

xx

*111 (not sure police would care)

Have you taken paracetamol?

RLI1105 · 02/09/2019 23:11

Hi,

I work as a nurse and 40 degrees is a significantly high temperature!
I would call 101 or try and get your GP. Even if it's viral you don't want to become dehydrated.
Get well soon!

Intheupsidedown · 02/09/2019 23:13

Took paracetamol at 9 and been taking it every 4 hours previous (or thereabouts)
My husband wants me to take the covers off for a bit and see if I cool down :(

Its the same cold as him and he soldered through Hmm

A temp that high after paracetamol while pregnant requires immediate medical consultation IMO

Jollitwiglet · 02/09/2019 23:19

101 is the non emergency police line

I would personally phone your local antenatal ward and see if they wish to assess you. Is baby still moving as normal?

Intheupsidedown · 02/09/2019 23:26

Thanks all

Waiting for out of ours doctor to phone me.

Temp is still 40 and feeling dizzy.

I felt baby earlier as normal, she has stopped at the moment but that isnt unusual for this time of night. Will phone antenatal if movements stop

OP, he’s not pregnant so don’t make comparisons x

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 02/09/2019 23:35

Wow 40 is very high. I would get checked out tonight tbh

OctoberLovers · 02/09/2019 23:36

Dont wait around, ring antenatal ward and see what they say

Bellasblankexpression · 02/09/2019 23:40

He’s not pregnant though OP it’s not comparable. Pregnancy means your immune system is already compromised so anything you get will knock you far worse than if you weren’t pregnant.
That’s really high - in my notes it says to phone antenatal if you get a temp that high.

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 03/09/2019 12:10

How are you doing op?

Clovko · 03/09/2019 12:31

How are you, I had similar in pregnancy. It was just a massive flu like cold in the end... but I ended up in hdu as I struggled so much. Passed ok and baby ok

Intheupsidedown · 03/09/2019 13:05

I ended up with out of hours and a&e this morning. Although I have an infection it's not enough to warrant antibiotics for the sake of the baby

Just need to continue with paracetamol and fluids. Temp is still up and down and having shivers but hoping the worst passes In a few days.

Hard to get rest with a toddler running around but trying to.at least my husband realised how poorly I was and stayed off work today.

Glad to hear it’s not anything too worrying OP I hope you feel better though. If you get a blocked up nose the saline sprays are safe in pregnancy and an absolutely god send.
