has anyone been for growth scans? I had my midwife appointment at 28 weeks, my belly was only measuring 25 weeks and was then sent for a growth scan the same day. At the scan they said that her femurs were measuring small and she was only 1lb 9oz. This was very stressful in itself as I'm thinking something is wrong with her, they scheduled me for another scan to see the growth pattern 2 weeks later (30 weeks) she was now weighing 2lb 7oz great and her femurs were measuring fine great!!!!! However then said her stomach was measuring too small. This is so stressful with no answers as they haven't told me anything!!! I just feel its something different every time. I have to go back next week again to see how shes progressing can anyone tell me if they have had the same experience

Thanks x

I haven't (yet) but at my last midwife appt (30 weeks) I was told he wasn't static but a bit slow on the growth so may need to look at scans next time. I have however a lot of pregnant friends and friends of friends who have had growth scans, it sounds like a fairly regular thing and certainly doesn't always mean a problem by any stretch.

I had this with my son. They kept on about how small he was. First his head then his tummy then they thought he stopped growing all together so we’re going to induce at 34 weeks. Then they scanned again and he had grown a little so they wanted to continue to monitor.. all the time my bump was measuring small. Anyway he was born at 40+3 (induced but for a different reason) and happy and healthy 6lb4. He’s 3 now and totally fine, eats like a horse and very tall.
Hope your little one is ok. Try not to worry too much.

Hi yes I did and ended up being scanned / other tests multiple times a week in the last month or so. Can’t quite recall the specifics but something like under 10th% tile for many measurements but

Hello, I initially got referred to fetal medicine for an extra scan at 22 weeks as my anomaly scan showed one twin had short femur length. At that scan all was well though baby was measuring on the small side and I was told it was ok to continue with the planned scans for twin pregnancy. At the follow up scan the baby was measuring small again and had dipped under the 5th centile for femur and abdominal circumference. Another growth scan was organised and confirmed twin was ‘small for gestational age’.

We then had scans every 2 weeks for the rest of my pregnancy, monitoring both growth and blood flow in the placenta and baby’s brain. At 34 weeks the decided that we had reached the point where it was decided that he would benefit more from being born than staying where they were and so, on august 22nd, I had my babies by c section and they arrived small by healthy. Bigger twin was estimated to be 4lb 11oz and was 4lb 15.5oz at birth. The smaller twin was estimated to be 3lb 3oz and arrived weighing 3lb 6.5oz. Neither needed oxygen or breathing support; they both needed help maintaining their body temperature and with feeding so were in incubators and had feeding tubes. The bigger twin is joe pretty much ready for home but we will stay in hospital until the smaller twin is ready to go home which is likely to be another week or so.

I’m currently 37 weeks & being monitored with growth scans. My little boy has been measuring just below average all along since 24 weeks. I had a scan at 36 weeks , so last week - where they said they want me back in a couple weeks to check. They aren’t overly concerned as he’s growing along his own line & they checked cord and fluid and all okay. He was suspected to be weighing in around 5.4 when he’s meant to be from 5.8 with normal head just smaller torso and legs. Please try not to worry it sounds very common how closely they monitor these days and it’s amazing what they can see & do now compared to previous years! A lot of people have told me how this is all an estimation anyway. A friend was told to expect an 8/9 pounder and had a 5 pound 11 perfect healthy babe! If they were worried they would of said. I totally understand the worry - I’ve had moments myself but just keep remembering I’m in safe hands ❤️ Won’t be long and baby will be in your arms xxx

I lost count of how many growth scans I had - at least 5 and they were always false alarms / a worry about nothing. Obviously not the same for everyone but just trying to show that growth scans don't always mean something is definitely wrong. Hope you and bump are ok.

I just posted about this...I'm 31+5 & apparently measuring small at a scan today...3lb 5oz..so been referred for scan in 2 weeks...They said babies within range but just want to track that shes growing on her own line regularly.. But it's not stopping me worrying...X
