Midwife visits after birth

If I go away to stay in a different area immediately after the birth, can I be referred to an out of area midwife team for home visits? Or will it create a massive problem?

Is it a permanent move or temporary?

I think its best to state your intentions now for after the birth and give them the area location so they can best advise you what they can do or if you need to come to them.

Temporary. There is a chance I won't be able to live in my house temporarily so plan to go to the in laws in worst case scenario.
I will talk to midwife about it this week!
It would be for 2 weeks or so.

And around a 3 hour drive away, longer with all the breaks we would need from car seat on the way.

Midwife here - just let them know your discharge address prior to them starting the discharge process.
Each area is different. They may have a team that will visit a different area, but generally we just ring the visit to the maternity unit that covers the area you are going to. It won't be a problem. It's quite common for people to go straight to their parents etc.

Oh, 3 hours. Will definitely be the nearest maternity unit who will send their midwives to you. Do you know which hospital it will be?

Will be fine-I went to a different part of uk less than a week after birth and I had excellent handover to and care from the local team. Just let your midwife know now.

I moved in with my mum for 2 weeks after having baby just until I got the hang of things. Midwives came to mums for me.
