I'm at a loss as to how to stop them and I'm fed up of waking up with blood stained teeth and everything tasting like blood. Sad

I've switched toothpaste and mouthwash at my dentists recommendation.

I've had a check up and the dentist said my teeth are fine there's no plaque and my oral hygiene is good.

I've also increased my calcium intake and yet still they will not stop bleeding.

Is anyone else suffering or do any of you lovely lot have any other ideas I've not yet come across that might help?

I know its not the worst problem in the world but I'm getting very self conscious that every time I open my mouth my gums are either bleeding or my teeth have blood on them.

I didn't have this but I did have pregnancy related gum disease which has gone now thankfully!

My dentist said it is because blood flow everywhere, including the gums, doubles so it can make your gums bleed very easily.

I saw the hygienist every couple of months and used the tee pee brushes every night. It does make your gums bleed more but it is important to do it to prevent any plaque build up.

Gingevel gel can help with the bleeding but unfortunately it is just another crappy side effect of pregnancy. It does go though Thanks

unfortunately it is just another crappy side effect of pregnancy.

I'm so encouraged to see that its normal but yes it's a pretty crap side effect, probably more so than sickness because most people at least associate sickness with being pregnant. However, my bleeding gums just make me look like I don't brush properly or look after my teeth.

I'll certainly check out the gel you suggested and hopefully that will help. My dentist was a little less sympathetic that yours I suppose it makes sense that the blood flow would increase everywhere including in my mouth.

I have this too. It's driving me crazy. Seen dentist and everything is fine with oral health. Wish I could find the cure though!

You and I both, I'm so paranoid that every time I open my mouth the person I'm talking to will be able to see bloody gums or blood stained teeth. Sad

Plus like I said not many people would associate it with me being pregnant so it just looks like I don't give a shit about my oral hygiene.

I feel you OP. Mine are terrible. Especially the gums around my back teeth. I only have to press my tongue against my teeth and gums and they start to bleed. My dentist says it's perfectly normal aswell Sad

Mine bleed every time I brush, which is annoying. As others have said, it's normal in pregnancy but I can see why you're so frustrated! I hope it clears up for you soon Thanks

Sorry to hear that so many of you are also suffering. It's reassuring to know I'm not alone but frustrating to learn there's not much I can really do about the situation other than wait it out.

Have you had your bloods checked? This is a common sign of malnutrition(which is common during pregnancy). Might also be worth checking blood pressure.

Have you had your bloods checked?

Yes all my bloods have come back fine and my blood pressure has been checked several times to see if that could be the cause but that also comes back normal.
