I am expecting my second baby in early Dec and I am huge. I am getting really bored of people at work going on about my size- anyone else feeling the same?

Absolutely!!

I'm 33+4 (about 7 months?!) and I'm sick of people asking how long I've got to go. When I say just over 6 weeks, they look really shocked and always ask if its twins or if I've been told its a really big baby. Also, I'm apparently quite carrying low down.

I reckon I should give a badge to every stranger I speak with as they all seem to have a medical opinion as if they are all doctors or midwives!!!

This is my third and I wasn't exactly thin to start with, so its not surprising I'm the size of a small country!!!

maxbear · 07/08/2007 20:54

Oh yes with my second everyone I met commented on how house like I was. My manager at work mentioned it every week and then on my last week at work suddenly said it is not that big really is it??!!? Anyway I felt massive and am so relieved it is all done. Ds was rather chunky at 8lb 10 two pounds heavier than dd! Here is hoping number 3 (just a very small twinkle in daddys eye at mo) is not any bigger.

bluebell82 · 07/08/2007 21:34

this is my first and I am huge at 16 weeks.. have a well rounded tum even to the point where a young teenager offered me his seat last week on the bus!! I was a size 8 before so think my body has gone into shock!

Alva · 07/08/2007 21:48

Yes! This is my second, and I am slightly concerned about just how big I'm going to get later on. Can't think of any smart retorts, either - any ideas? Comforting to see this thread - at least I'm not alone.

beansprout · 07/08/2007 21:50

I was offered a seat on a train last week (I was 13w). Very nice but yep, am constantly told that I am big. Lovely.

potoroo · 07/08/2007 21:58

God yes. The "must be twins/you're huge/look you're due next week" comments have only tapered off as the day gets nearer.

Which is good really, because I think I am going to smack the next person that says it.

beansprout · 07/08/2007 22:01

No jury would convict

motherinferior · 07/08/2007 22:04

I feel for you. All through my second fecking pregnancy people made helpful comments about how huge I was. Emails were sent from across the country about my reported enormity. By the end, lorry drivers leaned out of their lorries to comment. As if I really, really need people to comment on the size of my belly and/or tits thank you very much.

Bastards . Especially the doctor who went on and on about how I should put on a bit of makeup and cheer up about it all.

It may cheer you up to know I lost it all pretty smartish, unlike the first time.

potoroo · 07/08/2007 22:08

Or I would smack them if I could waddle fast enough.

Mind you I wrote up on my blog (family and DH family all in Australia) that appropriate comments are "You look fabulous" - particularly for my MIL who has to comment on how HUUUUUGE I am every farking time she sees me on webcam.

Yes, I make big healthy babies. My mother's babies and MIL babies were under 6 pound. DS was nearly 9 pound. SO YES I AM BIGGER!

Holymoly321 · 08/08/2007 09:06

I'm sick of it too! DS was elective section as he was breech - was 8lbs 12. So I've never been through labour, and now at 26 weeks I am absolutely massive and terrified about how much bigger this baby is going to get because I plan a VBAC this time round, and people going ON AND ON about how big my bump is, "oooh, must be a huge one in there etc etc" is NOT HELPING!!!!

missbumpy · 08/08/2007 09:47

Me too. I'm 30 weeks and I look like I might go into labour at any moment. I started to show really early on (by end of 1st trimester). Midwives seem to think the baby's the right size but I do sometimes wonder if it's a whopper or if there are twins in there....or maybe it's just all the crap I've been scoffing .

I really hate the fact that I sometimes feel self conscious about the bump and want to hide away. I always thought I'd be so proud to be pregnant and that I'd wear my bump with pride. It's easier said than done when you feel like people are staring at you and when you're getting loads of unhelpful comments about how big you are.

muppetgirl · 08/08/2007 09:51

oooooooh yes. This is me too. I'm 27 + 2 adn are tired of people asking how many weeks and when I reply '3 months' they look horrified!!! My 1st was big -9lb 1oz and have been told that lo will also be big and although I'm being monitored are still a little nervous. I feel like making a badge to...

steph0905 · 08/08/2007 11:30

i am 38 weeks and before was a size 8, my tummy has stretched frm a 28inc waist to a 49inc waste i am massive and have had all the bloody comments the whole way about twins and when i am having the baby, a big baby is a healthy baby, i am hoping to meert mine real soon, having twinges as i type this.. ouch!! x

muppetgirl · 08/08/2007 12:11

I was a size 8-10 and are 27+ 2 and my tummy is 41 1/2 inches round.

janx · 09/08/2007 15:13

Thanks for all your messagesof support - I told the receptionist at work (after the hundredth time she told me I looked ready to pop) that she really needed some new jokes. The IT guy she was talking to when I arrived was really sweet and said I looked healthy. I have had some nice comments too. My neighbour told me I had a proper bump and I looked great and someone else said I shine when I am pregnant - I think that was a compliment - not referring to extra sweeat!
I am a bit concerned how I am going to cope when I get bigger though.

Nooster · 10/08/2007 16:26

I am 23+1 and massive with my second, then again I was massive with my first. My first was 6lbs and the bump was all water!

Aren't people boring and tedious with that twins cr? And the big baby cr? The twins one is sooo annoying

I do feel stretched to the limit already and v uncomfortable but I do not like to hear abou how massive I was. All I can feel is hard baby elbows and legs etc though on the outside.

At my recent scan bubba is bang on average measurements except he has long legs.

My SIL said I was glowing and I love her.

Thanks

Nicki

JARM · 10/08/2007 16:28

yes yes yes

am 24+4 and MASSIVE..... look 9mnths plus already!

THe curse of a 3rd child me thinks!

AskABusyPerson · 10/08/2007 20:42

With my first (5 years ago) I felt and looked enormous (I was size 18-20 to begin with in sedentary job and love my food!) and in the end when my waters broke I could have filled a bath and dd was 6lb 15!

With no2 (10 weeks preg at mo) I already feel I look at least 4 months pregnant and I imagine people are doing that 'is she fat or pregnant' thinking....dread to think what size I will be near the end, and what the comments will be! I sympathise will all of you who've had sarky comments!

Bouncingturtle · 10/08/2007 20:50

Nearly 21 weeks and massive - still I was a bit on the chubby side to begin with. Feeling ratehr uncomfortable right now...

iliketosleep · 10/08/2007 21:20

with my first i wasnt that big and she was 7lbs 2oz, with my 2nd i was HHHUUUGGGEEE and she was 6lbs 8oz, with my 3rd i wasnt that big and he was 6lbs 12oz, now im 6+5 and my jeans are getting tighter!! I didnt start showing till at least 4 and a half months any other time so am a bit worried about exactly how huge im about to get

loopyredangel · 10/08/2007 22:57

I am much bigger second time around, first time I had a 42inch waist!!!!! Not yet mesaure this time, looks like another big baby on the way, got 13 weeks to go and I am like a heffer! DS weighed in at 10lb 9.5oz

aikigypsy · 11/08/2007 04:28

27 weeks and my boobs are like pineapples. I just re-measured, thinking I might need a bigger bra, and I sure do! Have gained huge amounts of weight (24 pounds or so?) but people say I hardly look pregnant. Is that supposed to be a compliment? I am feeling very large.

janx · 11/08/2007 13:28

Looks like there are a lot of us about. I might get a badge machine and make some badges up with something like - "If you mention my size I will sit on you" Any other suggestions for slogans -post here!

AskABusyPerson · 11/08/2007 15:02

Howabout a badge:-

No I'm not carrying twins
No I'm not overdue
No it's not a big baby

I'M JUST PREGNANT, OK?!
