I have my 12 week scan booked in a couple weeks and wondering how it works with getting photos of the baby. Do you have to pay for photos or do they give them to you? If you have to pay is it cash or card does anyone know. Just want to be prepared.

We got one free, any more we had to pay by cash (the correct change) it was around £3 if I remember rightly.

At my hospital in scotland its £10 for 3 pics and cash only and no change given.

Ours was £5 per picture, cash only.

We have to pay where I am! £5 per image, you can pay card or cash, I told the lady doing my scan I'd like 2 images when she asked if I'd like a picture of baby!

There's a machine in the waiting area it prints a little receipt with what you've paid for, I.e 1 pic or 2 etc and then once the sonographer has completed your notes and their papers they will bring the images out and then u give them the receipt.

I hear it varies on location so maybe worth calling the ultrasound department just to be sure? Or take card and cash just incase so you aren't caught short!

Congratulations 🧸

At our hospital (RVI Newcastle) it's 3 photos for £10. You get a receipt from the machine and give it to the sonographer.
But at each scan, they've actually given us 4 photos

Massively depends on where you are I think. The sonographer gave us an envelope to put a donation in and hand in to reception. Suggested donation was £3 for 12 week and £5 for 20 week and they gave us about 8 photos (quite small) each time.

Common theme seems to be cash though so I'd take that with you!

I never got charged for a picture! We had scans at 12, 20, 32, 36 & 38 weeks and were given multiple pictures each time with no charge. I didn't realise that wasn't normal!

My hospital is £5 per picture and cash or card

crazymuseummumtobe · 31/08/2019 20:00

RBH in Reading is about £3 per pic. We put £9 in the machine, got the receipt, then got given five pics! I think the money goes towards costs, then remainder to the hospital charity. It's fair enough - there's no medical need to give you prints, and the costs must add up.

AlphaLemon · 31/08/2019 20:00

Yeah depends on where you are. We knew before ours they cost £3 each, so took plenty of money with us, only to find out when we arrived that you have to buy tokens using £1 coins, resulting in DH running around looking for change 🤦🏻‍♀️
