Have found love later in life and had my first child at 39. I am now approaching 42 and thinking about my last chance to give my first a sibling, I went to the GP and asked for advice and I basically was told to get on with it but I want to wait another 6 months before trying. Has anyone on here experienced the same issue or has had a baby in their early to mid 40’s, what are your experiences like?

I think over 40 your better trying sooner rather than later. I am 40, partner 48 and currently 24 weeks with my first, I will be 41 when the baby arrives if it all goes to plan.
We were not actively trying and must have been careful 9/10 times, but were happy to be child free or have a child. As soon as I started reading up about age, pregnancy and miscarriage I realised how very lucky we actually are. The odds do really start to turn after 40!

I had my son at 34, then got pregnant last year at 40, ended in miscarriage, and am now 14 weeks pregnant. Will be 42 when it arrives. So I seem to be more fertile in my 40s! I feel far healthier then when I had my son, and so far the pregnancy has been much better. None of the midwives etc that I have seen so far have been particularly concerned about my age, yes it’s a risk factor but if you’re fairly healthy otherwise, that will go in your favour. I also feel far more psychologically prepared for this baby! I would go for it if I was you, and good luck!

I had my first baby at 40, in November. He’s now 9months old and I’m 41. My husband (45) and I decided three weeks ago to try for another as we didn’t know how long it would take and 16days after that decision (last Weds) I got a BFP. All being well (🤞🏼) I’ll be 41 with two under 18months Grin

Go for it OP, I wouldn’t wait to start trying!
