My last period was in late July and after realizing yesterday that I was five days late this month, I went and bought a test. I took it this morning and it turns out I’m pregnant!

I’m really shocked as this is completely unplanned. I’m also very worried as I’ve not been taking folic acid (I didn’t even realise it was a thing until I started frantically googling this morning!) DH and I have also just returned from an all-inclusive resort break where I drank almost every night Sad

DH was ecstatic when I told him the news this morning, but I’m terrified that I’ve harmed the baby in some way and that I shouldn’t continue with the pregnancy. I feel so guilty and can’t stop beating myself up.

I also have so many questions:

  • When should I call my GP - should I speak to them today?
  • Is the 12 week scan done 12 weeks after conception, or 12 weeks since the first day of your last period? Is it the combined scan that I need?
  • Can you choose which hospital to have the baby in or does it have to be your local hospital?
  • Aside from taking folic acid and cutting out alcohol, is there anything else I can do now to ensure I have the healthiest pregnancy possible?

Sorry for the long post - I’m just in total shock I think and am so worried about it all. My head is spinning

Hi OP congratulations!! I was still registered with my old gp surgery so when I found out I was expecting I went to a local surgery and registered there? After about 3 days I was set up and spoke to them about how to arrange the first midwife booking in appt. I am now 15 weeks and it still often doesnt seem real and I have had scans and heard the heartbeat so dont worry about that! I have heard a lot of people suffer taking regnacare as it can make you feel a bit I'll and male early pregnancy symptoms worse. I take seven seas pregnancy vitamins and for me they have been fine, folic acid Is included.

Hi all! I am very new at this kind of thing! I have just found out I am pregnant (yesterday) and feeling sicky and head aches all week! (My periods are very all over the place since coming off the pill in March) so pregnancy wasn’t my first thought! It’s sinked in now but still doesn’t feel real! But I’m so scared! I am 7 weeks 4 days going from my last period start date of the 10th July! I have no idea what to do now! I will ring the dr Monday morning to get a midwife appointment! Can anyone help me out!? I’m feeling so sicky when I don’t eat so I feel like I need to nibble on bits all day! How do I hide this at work, or I’m I best to tell them so they are aware? I don’t have a physical job so I’m sitting a lot of the time! I’m sorry for this long post! Xxx

@chlo1993 you’ll probably get more responses if you start your own thread. Congrats!
