Part-time maternity pay

Hi, is anyone part time, and do you know what your employer did with maternity pay/shared parental leave?

We have a complicated situation because I am part time employed AND have a temp contract with a UK university AND am freelance and my employer hasn't had to deal with maternity for 15 years.

They don't know what to do with part-time staff. I don't think the university will pay me anything. Not sure if I need to go to HMRC for supplementary pay either. My husband may need to take his employer to an employment tribunal over the equality act. :(

Thanks in advance.

I’m pretty sure your employer should just calculate maternity pay pro-rata: do they have a maternity policy that states what their mat pay is?

Think you’d need to check your contract (if you have one!) with University.

I’d def go to get advice from HMRC re self employed status, tax, statutory maternity etc.

Best of luck

The university has not delivered the contract they were supposed to, so it is "still in the works" ... sigh

My main employer is literally rewriting their parental leave policies after finding out me and another colleague are pregnant.
