Bananas during pregnancy

hi,

I know this may sound so silly, but is eating 1 banana a day okay during pregnancy? Someone told me avoid bananas during pregnancy....and because I've had 2 miscarriages before, things like this really play up on my mind.

Anyone currently pregnant / been pregnant and had at least 1 banana a day?

Bananas are absolutely fine. It can be such a weight on your mind can’t it, whether you’re doing the right thing. The NHS website has the most up to date recommendations, but bananas are full of energy and vitamins so will only do you good.

Bananas are good at dealing with leg cramps during pregnancy ime!! One before bed later on if you get restless legs keeping you awake!

Bananas are fine to eat in pregnancy.
I'd avoid putting them anywhere else though

No issue with eating bananas during pregnancy - infact they're a fantastic source of potassium, vitamin B6 and dietary fibre. DS is 7 months now but when I was pregnant with him I think I was eating 2-3 bananas most days as most other fruits seemed to leave a funny taste in my mouth. Didn't experience any adverse side effects Smile

I don't like bananas but I've been pregnant three times and nobody has ever mentioned avoiding them, so I think you're fine.

Hi, I'm currently 26+4 and I've had a banana on most days with breakfast! I wouldn't worry, our baby is cooking perfectly fine in there

I think there's a risk if you have numerous bananas in a day (as there is without pregnancy anyway, but you'd have to eat a tonne of them!!)

Gosh I hope so! I have a banana everyday! One of my favourite snacks. I did with DC1 too and he's fine so I don't think you need to worry.

Aww thanks everyone, and also thank you for no thinking I'm nuts. Gosh, some people really do put doubts in your head, sometimes I feel like ignorance is bliss.

I'm 15 weeks now, and literally just made an announcement about the pregnancy to family a few days ago...they've all been bombarding me with do's and don'ts.

Stick to the NHS website for guidance. People will be very quick to tell you what you can and can't do, when in fact there's not that much that they recommend you should actually avoid. And even then, it's just recommendations
