Hi ladies,
Just wondering when to expect my first midwife appointment?
I’m 6w today (though the drs put me at 7w due to date of last period, but I know when I ovulated)

Ive had the booking appointment with the dr but just wondering when I should expect to see the midwife?

Hi Op it all depends on your area if your Dr done booking in then you could see your midwife when you go for your 12 week scan or you could see them at 16 weeks pregnant

It's different in my area with both my pregnancies the midwife done my booking in and then I saw her again for my 16 week check ups and so on

@2beautifulbabs oh ok. I assumed you’d see the midwife before your scan. My dr jut said you’d see them in the first couple of weeks but she wasn’t really sure.
Perhaps I’ll ring the local midwives and ask them direct.

You have your booking in appointment before your 12 week scan (usually). I had mine at around 10 weeks but some people have it slightly later depending on their area

Sorry, must have misread the first time. Did the doctor do your booking in appointment then? Go through all the questions etc?

I had mine when I was around 7 weeks. I had to go EPU first to get a scan at 6 weeks (rule out ectopic pregnancy as I had one previously).

@whitetoblerone yes I had the booking app with my gp and answered all the Qs. She just didn’t say when to expect the midwife appointment but I’ve just found out that it’s around 10 weeks so still a bit of a wait ☹️

I had my first booking in appt at 9 weeks. I'm in Scotland I didn't know if that makes any difference or not...

My trust the schedule is

10 weeks is - booking in (midwife)
12 week - Scan
16 week midwife
20 week - Scan
25 week - midwife
28 week - midwife
31 week - midwife
34 week - midwife
38 week - midwife
40 week midwife
41 week - midwife

I also see the consultant a few tones mixed in there Smile

Wow. My booking in appointment included wee and bloods and over an hour of questions starting to fill in my green notes. Hard to believe a gp would spend that much time!
