Best place for maternity clothes!

I'm currently 29 weeks and desperately need to invest in some maternity clothes! Before falling pregnant I was a 6/8 but probably would go up to a size 10 now, where are the best places to shop without breaking the bank?😊

eBay, seriously!

summertime06 · 29/08/2019 15:49

H&M

Pinkflipflop85 · 29/08/2019 15:50

Get most of mine from h&m and asda.

ChickenNugget86 · 29/08/2019 16:56

I just wear pj's at home, put them on as soon as I get home. Im definitely going to need work clothes soon - black trousers and some smart tops.

I'm a plus size 20/22 so hoping I can get items when needed.

I did notice Mothercare did maternity clothes when I went in recently.

SleeplessinEastSussex · 29/08/2019 18:22

ASOS

AndBeholdAWhiteHorse · 29/08/2019 18:49

eBay has been my saviour. With 3 months to go I don't want to spend loads on clothes I won't wear for long. Asda for nice and cheap tees.

SallieCat19 · 29/08/2019 19:17

When I was pregnant I found H&M maternity clothes really nice and good price!

Fortheloveofscience · 29/08/2019 19:18

Ebay bundles!

ThisHereMamaBear · 29/08/2019 19:18

I liked asos and asda

Casmama · 29/08/2019 19:19

I was coming on to say ebay too. You can get lovely stuff at really decent prices and most of it hasn't had much wear.

OccasionalNachos · 29/08/2019 19:21

H&M is best for casual, & I got a couple of dresses in JoJo Maman Bebe but only because they were in the sale & very cheap. Have some stuff on order from Dorothy Perkins that should be arriving soon.

katmarie · 29/08/2019 19:34

Another vote for ebay. I've bought pretty much all of my maternity stuff on there, some stuff brand new too, and lots of bargains to be had.

TheCraicDealer · 29/08/2019 19:37

H&M for casual tops/dresses
GAP for plain long sleeved/scoop neck tees for work
ASOS for work trousers
Mothercare for jeans, yoga/lounge pants and nightwear

I have a pair of jeans each from H&M and JoJo but they're nowhere near as comfy as the Mothercare ones. Mothercare's have a v stretchy bump band that goes right under your ribs so you can't see them under tighter tops. Their yoga trousers are also the comfiest things ever and are great for sitting about the house in.

I waited for events and discount codes so didn't pay full price for anything aside from the H&M stuff. I got a few cheap summer bits from Boohoo but the quality isn't great- better to spend slightly more in GAP and get something that won't look bobbly AF after two washes. I know people rave about eBay but tbh I find the whole bidding thing a bit of a faff, get too invested and then annoyed when I don't win!

peanutbutterandbananas · 29/08/2019 19:38

Fara Kids charity shop!

SRK16 · 29/08/2019 19:52

I like:
H&M
Mamalicious
There’s some decent stuff on ASOS
I got some lovely Seraphine bits on eBay (worth looking at seraphine sale too)
I liked Topshop maternity jeans and they have some in the sale at the moment

1ce1cebaby · 29/08/2019 20:44

With dresses you could just size up in most. I only needed maternity jeans / trousers. Then just got normal dresses and tops in a size up. I was quite neat tbf and a few of the maternity dresses/tops I did buy they were too big

WhyBirdStop · 29/08/2019 22:08

H&M were great, loved the leggings, skinny jeans and got a few nice dresses there too that I wore for work, but my office isn't hugely corporate. Sizing up didn't work for me other than PJs because I didn't get the boobs I've always wanted even when breastfeeding ☹️, and my legs stayed quite slim, it was all on the middle (some of it still is)

gkeal3 · 29/08/2019 22:20

Topshop, Asos, boohoo,b&m is where I've bought mine from. Also new look do a maternity range x

gkeal3 · 29/08/2019 22:21

H&M I meant not b&m 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣

Doneaftertwo · 30/08/2019 09:02

Definitely h&m or topshop for basics- leggings, casual tshirts, comfy bras

Be wary of sizes though, don't assume you have gone up a size or two. Try to go somewhere that has maternity stuff and try some on, even just to see the size. I am 10/12 but found size 12 maternity stuff way too big and quite a bit of size 10 stuff too big as well.

KJ1988 · 30/08/2019 09:36

Debenhams have a good sale on at the moment! My maternity jeans are Red Herring and I had 20% or 30% off paying less than £20 per pair. They're really comfy! I usually wear a size 10 but was more comfortable in the 12 because the bump had room to grow.
I also bought a nice dress from Mothercare that was 10% off at the parent event and will see me through work in the autumn. I've spotted some nice dresses on offer with Boohoo but I am not sure what the quality will be like - has anybody bought from Boohoo?

Aside from that, I am just trying to get away with a lot of looser non-maternity styles, that I'll be able to continue to use next year. Lot's of swing and shift styles coming in for autumn and always loose jumpers etc. I may be just being hopeful but I'll see how I get on and only buy if I have to. May be an option for you with some items also x

MagPiee · 30/08/2019 18:03

I was looking for maternity clothes. I don't have too much spare cash but had to try a few things in Seraphine. The design and materials much better than in H&M and also if you buy maternity / nursing then you will have it for breastfeeding months too... So I got trousers, some base layers in H&M but the clothes which can be for both periods I will look for ebay / outlet Seraphine.

Pinkflipflop85 · 30/08/2019 19:57

Ordered loads from boohoo and sent it all back. Poor quality and terrible fit. Every single top or dress with an empire line was so badly made that that empire line sat across the top of my boobs instead of under them.

Also had a wrap dress that split wide open as soon as it reached my bumpHmm

Condea76 · 31/08/2019 07:39

Try New Look and Dorothy Perkins Maternity range online and they have lots of sale items too. H&M are good also.

Weathergirl1 · 01/09/2019 14:28

@MagPiee if you like Seraphine, I'd also suggest looking at Jojo Maman Bebe and Isabella Oliver on eBay. I've been successful at getting some really good bargains from those too (obviously check sizing on their website - I'm a 10 in Seraphine but a 12/3 in Isabella Oliver)
