What type of (private) professional would be best placed to help with lower back and pelvic pain in pregnancy? I'm thinking some kind of vigorous pummelling/manipulation/maybe some stretching would be nice/massage never not welcome. has anyone tried anything?

You can try a physiotherapist, but in my experience they are reluctant to do a great deal while you're still pregnant, other than give you exercises and stretches to do.

Pelvic partnership have a list of recommended practitioners. Mostly physios and osteopaths. A few chiropractors on there too. You might have to travel a bit, but there are some all over the uk.
