Can anyone recommend good 2nd trimester vitamins?

I took the pregnacare max during my 1st trimester and I'm now taking the pregnacare original but I'm worried it's not enough!

Thanks x

I’m using the pregnacare ones that say they’re good for entire pregnancy... didn’t know there was different requirements - I’ll be watching for responses Grin

I use the boots own pregnancy ones. Not much between them and pregnacare other than the price. As long as you have a balanced diet you should get what you need but I’ve missed a few days and noticed I felt a lot more tired so just stuck with them

My consultant recommended taking extra vitamin D alongside my pregnacare vitamins.

I'm not taking anything other than vitamin D.

Up until week 8, I took pregnacare. Then I had to take an extra strength prescription of folic acid so midwife told me to knock pregnacare on the head and take the folic acid alongside a vitamin D tablet instead. I only had to take this to week 13 or so. Then I just continued with the vitamin D.

I eat a good varied diet (ish) and the extra iron in pregnacare makes me constipated. (TMI SORRY!) Midwife agreed this was ok at my most recent appt.

I would take a normal multivitamin with no iron in but you can't have vitamin A so it rules that out...

I do wanna take omega three now though but my midwife was baffled when I asked about this. She said just to check it said suitable for pregnancy on it 🤷🏻‍♀️ I might just eat salmon or other oily fish twice a week tbh...

Original is fine!

I've just been taking the seven seas pregnancy stage 2 ones. Stage 1 is preconception and TTC into early pregnancy, stage 2 is for all of pregnancy and stage 3 is post natal.

I haven't been taking any vitamin suppliments since I stopped taking folic acid at 12 weeks.

I had terrible morning sickness that lasted until 17 weeks and I just couldn't stomach anything not even tablets.

my baby is very happy, healthy and chunky :)

KJ1988 · 29/08/2019 13:32

I'm also not taking anything at the moment and am 28 weeks.
I continued taking Pregnacare up until around 18 weeks but it's dwindled. I was told I only needed vitamin D after 13 weeks - but went on holiday at 18 weeks and have got plenty of natural vitamin D over the summer.

NHS website says "Most people aged 5 and over in the UK will probably get enough vitamin D from sunlight in the summer, so you might choose not to take a vitamin D supplement during these months."

I've taken that statement literally, and may just try and pick it back up when the weather turns. x

Baby will be fine regardless but it is yourself you have to look after. They will take every last reserve you have!

I was in constant agony with joint pains for weeks. The consultant told me I needed to massively up my intake of vitamin D. I did and the pain went within days.

maria94 · 29/08/2019 18:48

@Pinkflipflop85 I can definitely tell baby is taking everything lol 💤 it's my first pregnancy so I'm very new to this all.. I'll stick to the pregnacare original as they sound like they'll be enough! Thank you
