Timing of first midwife appointment

Phoned to book my booking appointment and the first slot they have will be when I am 11+1. I read on the NHS site that ideally the appointment she be prior to 10 weeks as there are certain tests that should be carried out before then. Also will this delay my 12 week scan date if I’m not seeing her until week 11? Is there anyway that the scan can be arranged prior to this appointment?

My appointments have always been 10 weeks+ and never had any difficulties having the appropriate tests or getting my scan booked in

The 12 week scan has to be done between certain points, 10-14 weeks so they’ll have to fit you in somehow! It does seem to be cutting it close.. I had my booking at 9 weeks and my scan is having to be at 13 weeks! More annoying for me than anything to be fair!

If concerned, maybe give your midwife or midwife team a call!

My area booking is in 10+ weeks. Mine got delayed until 13 weeks so midwife did scan referral over the phone to make sure I had that in the time frame. Needs to be done before 14 weeks ideally between 11-13 according to my trust but each area seems to have slightly different guidelines

Call them. They booked my scan when they booked my midwife appointment because I asked the midwife to call. Had the same concerns.

In some areas they book the scan before seeing the midwife so I wouldn’t worry. My scans have been with about a weeks notice recently too so they can get you in quickly

I would call them an clarify. Round here you get your first appointment at 8 weeks. I do know people however that got a scan appointment very quickly when they didn't realise they were pregnant until they were 10+ weeks.
