Hiya
I'm 36+2 today and have been having extra scans every week since around 32 weeks due to RFM and also baby has some fluid on one of his kidneys.

I've got appointments booked from now until I'm 39 weeks but my midwife has said to start thinking about whether or not I would accept an offer of induction if nothing changes from 38 weeks onward.

Obviously if this is in babies best interest I will of course do it, but just wanted to see if anyone here had been induced and could give me an idea of what to expect? I keep hearing horror stories about induction and would like some opinions so I can make a decision!

I had 2 lovely inductions! Both for post dates, both almost 10lb, no pain relief during labour (just staying active) and second was back to back!

Both 7 hours long from drip to baby. Didn’t start with pessary or anything, which I preferred.

Had x2 early inducements (37 weeks). One quick (8 hours) but awful other took 4 days of inducing but I felt it was a much more positive birth experience.

Good luck.

Thank you both!! I had a follow up appointment today (37+2) and they aren't happy with the growth scan as he has hardly grown in two weeks so I had a sweep earlier and scheduled induction for Saturday 😬

I'm so nervous about induction, everyone I speak to just says how horrific they found labour when they'd been induced - I know it's the right decision for my baby which is exactly why I'm doing it but it doesn't stop the worrying! Glad to hear yours went well though Xxx

I've had one natural and one induction and my induction was better much quicker and was a lovely experience x

Just a follow up on this thread in case anyone wants another person's experience in the same position as I was!

Was induced on Wednesday and finally had DS on sat, worst experience of my life... Obviously DS is amazing and love him to bits and would have been induced again to keep him safe but my god the induction was worse than the labour 🙈

Congratulations!!!

Induction pre 40 weeks often is long, drawn out and knackering.

Kej13 · 11/09/2019 04:02

@randommess tell me about it 🙈 the labour itself was fine and actually quite quick once it had started but my god the induction was long and painful

The ones I had at 40 weeks were like that, the ones at 42 weeks were one pessary, 7 hours of pain then a very quick labour - I'm naturally a 43 weeker.

Be positive if you had ended up with a c-section you would be recovering from major surgery now Wink

Kej13 · 13/09/2019 14:05

@randommess oh I'm so glad I didn't have the c section in the end, we've been out almost every day this week just getting on with life and surprisingly a lot of my pre pregnancy clothes fit so I feel amazing that I can just get up and go which I know I wouldn't be able to do if I'd had it!

Horrible pain but quick labour. Induced for both of my 2kids after 40 weeks. Now am at 36+3weeks

Mine was a week before due date had the pessary. For me as soon as they gave it me the contractions were instant. Told my husband to call them an hour and half later because I was struggling so bad. When we called them they said it was too early and were about to leave until they realised I was haven’t contractions minute after minute right before them. They checked me and I was 7cm had baby within 5 hours. Yes it was fast but and a little crazy for a first time mum but I’d rather have them quick and fast them them be dragged on for days.
