Only 4.8mm at 7.5 weeks - what are the chances?

Hello all Smile
Can anyone share stories where the size started very small but caught up over weeks?
I'm 7 weeks 5 days but the gestation is measured at only 4.8mm (it has grown slowly from 3.5mm at the internal scan done 8 days previously). There is a heartbeat. The private clinic isn't too confident about good chances, and just said let's see at the next scan if it starts to catch up.

Are there any good news stories out there of similar small beginnings catching up with the expected size?
I'm 40, trying for 18 months, had a laparoscopy with dye test which unblocked one of my tubes and I was pregnant 2 weeks later. I have other factors and like so many have gone through turmoil to get here, so am really hoping there's really a miracle here x

Honestly with that little growth in 8 days it’s not looking promising. I had similar happen baby had a heartbeat but I knew it was too slow and I had only 1mm growth in 7 days and it didn’t turn out well for us. They told me it was most likely a chromosomal issue. I’m really hope it’s not the same outcome for you but I would absolutely prepare yourself for the worst but I’m hoping you have a miracle x

Thank you for sharing! I'll try and stay positive in case that helps, but will make sure I deal with any unwanted welcome. I have another scan in a few days. I'll keep updating here in case there are other comments etc. X

Hello Smile for anyone who reads this thread again an update is that my scan today confirmed no growth from Tuesday's scan and no heartbeat today. Very disappointing, but this has all confirmed

  1. I can get pregnant
  2. I can get pregnant naturally
  3. I've been able to stay pregnant for 7-8 weeks (which means I might be able to stay pregnant next time (praying hands emoji!) 4. I can get pregnant at 40-41

So there is still hope! Two months ago I didn't know if I could get pregnant at all, and understood from the NHS my only chance was really through IVF (they didnt believe dye testing leading to unblocking of tube/s assists fertility - clearly getting pregnant straight away after 18 months of trying and nothing suggests otherwise).

Good luck to the women trying so hard to have/grow a family! X
