I have 1 daughter, lost 6 pregnancies and I am currently 10w along. I had bleeding (more than spotting) for a while and now its just spotting every day at least. I kept going in for USs suspecting no baby or no viability but the little one was always still there! Good heart beat and all!

My doctor is amazing but she doesn't really have a reason for the bleeding. At first there was a clot, then it went away and there has not been a clot, but I still spot. Red and brown both. She wants to put me on blood thinners. I just wondered if anyone else had been through bleeding like this.

Thanks!

Hi, I am currently 6+2 with my second and experiencing the same. On Sunday, I had some brown discharge in the morning, yesterday I had some but not as much. Today - I had a tissue full of bright red blood after a BM, then about two hours later there was a small, (fingernail size maybe) stringy but of red blood in the toilet bowl.

I am going out of my mind. We tried for two years for this baby 😞 I had bleeding with my DS also and he is/was fine so that is what I am clinging onto at the moment. That, and that I have no pain and very minimal amounts of blood.

It's so scary isn't it. I hope everything works out for you xxx

It's hard to think about anything else when you're pregnant and bleeding. Have you had an ultrasound? I was very insistant. Until I got one I was quite moody and angry thinking I was miscarring again. It helped me mentally. At one point someone mentioned I may just have a sensitive cervix. Even without intercourse I was bleeding, so not sure if that could still be the cause. I am just terrified to be on blood-thinners!

Oh gosh - please can I join? I feel very similar- had sex and had brown discharge since ... we have already seen the heartbeat on a private scan at 7 weeks and I'm now 9+3.

I'm being scanned again Friday - how on earth do we keep calm?

Drpainter - I read about a sensitive cervix and it did seem to ring true for me, I wonder if the hospital can test for it...

Google cervical ectropion.

It gave me bleeding weeks 5-7.

Thank you for this ! Very interesting reading

Hi ladies. I had a bleed at 8+4 (now 10+4), scan a few days later showed a healthy baby and was told it was a subchorionic hemorrhage. They told me there was still some blood in my uterus which I think was expelled tonight - it was dark brown, more than spotting but not excessively heavy, no cramps. Still can't help but worry! Never nice to see anything like that is it.

Hi all I'm currently 9+2 with my first pregnancy. I had a little bit of brown spotting at 7 weeks but had a scan and everything looked fine.

2 nights ago I had a massive bleed, totally painless and no warning at all, just a ton of red blood and clots like having an entire heavy period at once... very weird and scary. It actually happened twice about 1.5 hours apart. I went to A&E and they sent me to the EPU for a scan, thankfully the baby looked fine and I saw and heard its heartbeat!

The EPU nurses were really kind but just sort of shrugged and said "one of those things" when I asked what caused the bleeding. I was so exhausted & relieved that it wasn't a miscarriage that I didn't push for a better answer but now it's really bugging me, I want to know why I would bleed like that and what are the chances it could happen again?? I'm back at work on Monday when the new school term starts but I'm so worried about suddenly gushing blood everywhere I don't want to leave the house! I can't even imagine what I would do if it happened at work or in public.

Do you guys think it's worth trying to get an appointment with my midwife or GP to see if I can get any more info? I'm trying to resist the urge to ask doctor google... I've found the antenatal department at my local hospital super confusing, there are about 15 different phone numbers for different teams and half the time nobody answers...

Drpaintermum · 29/08/2019 01:44

I would TOTALLY make an appointment! You deserve to know because you will go nuts. Maybe you need progesterone or need to see a specialist? My very first miscarriage I bleed like a waterfall with no warning. With each miscarriage after I was always so terrified I would bleed out again, when I was away from home. You should keep pressing for help. You deserve it.

This pregnancy they called my bleeding subchorrionic and it has gotten less. But when I was bleeding a lot I was so angry the doctor I saw wouldnt give me an US (not my doctor) but gave me a pelvic exam to see if I really was bleedibg and then told me she was positive. I told her I wasnt!

Keep pressing for answers. Ask about clotting factor issues, there is a test for that. Just keep asking. Its your baby.

Sorry about your losses OP and wish you all the best for your 🌈 baby x

As for bleeding I had a heavy bleed around 11 weeks. Phoned Gynae who said 'it's common to bleed in pregnancy and there isn't much we can do at this stage of pregnancy...' helpful Hmm I was so upset as it felt like they weren't listening. That night I had a private scan and thankfully baby was fine. We don't have an EPU around here. They told me 'it's just one of those things' which isn't helpful as you aware you shouldn't really bleed in pregnancy! I now have a gorgeous 7 week old little boy snoring away ☺️. Wishing you all the best x

@Drpaintermum thank you so much for your reply. I'm so sorry to hear about your pregnancy losses, I hope your current pregnancy goes well.

I've got a therapy session tomorrow thank goodness cos this whole thing is making my anxiety & depression play up like mad (no pun intended lol). I'll try to get a midwife appointment early next week too.

@LividLaughLove

Thanks! I will ask about this. Good to know. My poor husband will hate this.

I just got my clotting factor test back and I am heterozygous for factor V Leiden so I will probably have to go on blood-thinners.

I recently tore my knee in a competition which required surgery and then got a leg clot which my doctor seemed to be totally fixated on. Guess maybe there was something to it after all. Has never been a problem until now I suppose.

I’m also on blood thinners (and progesterone, which they said might exacerbate the ectropion).

It’s a minor irritation but the injections are barely feel-able after a while!

Good luck.
