Pregnancy insomnia

I am so sick of pregnancy insomnia. I haven’t had good sleep since I’ve become pregnant. I’m up 2am after spending hours trying to sleep. I have two dc and this is the first pregnancy I experience this. Tomorrow isn’t going to be easy trying to entertain my two dc 5 and 7 during the heatwave and my dog who is still pretty much puppy age 16 months and she likes to play. 😭 I just want to get good sleep again. It’s so frustrating as I’m active all day. Loads of walking (thanks tonkids and dog). Going to the park; swimming w the kids etc. And I just can’t sleep!!!

Anyone else have some special tips? I rarely watch anything in the evening. Yes I look at my phone or iPad for an hour at like 8Pm. But surely by 2am I should be able to sleep!

Sorry for the rant. Just so frustrated.

I also struggle sleeping. I fall asleep really quick. But I wake up a few hours later. For a few hours. I'm trying audio books and podcasts to distract. Hit and miss. Sorry you're struggling x

Yep. Can’t stay asleep. Been napping in the day to help, but back to work next week and worried about coping!

Are you having any caffeine? Cut it out completely if so, see if that helps. Also get a fan if you don't have one - maybe the room is too hot? And try having a snack just before sleeping - not so much pregnancy related but I used to get insomnia and find it so hard to sleep and often found going downstairs and eating something would do the trick (I usually drink a glass of milk but anything easy to digest and rich in calories would work).

I get to sleep no problem but anything that wakes me up and I feel so awake and alert and it's hard to go back to sleep.

The 'sleep with me' podcast is awesome when I wake and can't get back to sleep!

Hey @Mamabear12 - I'm same with pregnancy insomnia too! I find I can get to sleep ok but then if I wake up to go to the toilet during the night, I struggle to get back to sleep again..for ages!!! I found having naps throughout the day or when I get back in from work has helped. Hope it goes soon though and we can get back to normal (ish!) sleep xx

Many thanks for the tips everyone. I am going to try to give up caffeine. I have one in the morning 7am, which is only half of the amount we are allowed. Maybe my body is so sensitive to it. But so hard to give up when I’m tired from bad sleep. And have the kids and dog to entertain. I try to keep them busy and active during the day as don’t want them on screens when they can play outside. But at this point I’ll try anything! Will also try the podcast. And eye mask. It is slightly hot at start of night, but by 11pm it’s okay temp and tomo it cools down thankfully! I’m also going to stop screen time by 5pm and see if that helps!

I'm the same I usually wake up about 6am or 3.30 am and it's like when I wake up I'm fully awake could start the day. I didn't have this with my son but I did with my daughter
