31 weeks only 7kg gained

I started with a healthy weight. Midwife has never really bothered to weight me and the only time they did was at 12 weeks. Since then I've gained 3-4 kg. (the total is just estimation because I did get chubby in the first trimester but gradually "slimmed down").

I never go hungry, so surely I should be ok? With my first I gained 15kg total but I was already overweight.

I was never weighed during any appointment. I knew my weight at booking in so she took that and they have never checked since. I did worry I had gained too much at one point and started using online calculators expecting to be checked by midwife and now I don’t bother. As long as your babies growth chart stays where it should that’s the important thing however if your worried speak to your midwife

Zampa · 26/08/2019 08:27

I got weighed during my first pregnancy but not during my second. I did query it and the midwife said something about it not being important.

I didn't put much weight on at all during my second pregnancy (a stone maybe). I was concerned and asked my midwife and consultant but they were happy.

As with any pregnancy concerns, ask your health advisors for support. I'm sure you're fine if you're eating healthily but check in. It doesn't do any harm.

I'm 22 weeks and still the same weight I was when I got pregnant. I lost 3kg in the first trimester with sickness but still have yet to gain. I'm keeping a close eye as I am overweight and I don't want a huge weight gain. This is my second pregnancy. I didn't look too much into my weight during my first but despite breastfeeding for 14 months the weight did not just melt off!
So could it be to do with any weight loss earlier in your pregnancy....

They don’t weigh you at all in pregnancy, I have been at 37 weeks as I’m consultant lead and they do it as part of a 37 week clinic. I’ve put on 6.75kg in pregnancy (A stone) so far so I wouldn’t be worried. I started off a slim weight and I just don’t put much weight on in pregnancy, didn’t with my first either.

Recently all midwives changed. I haven't seen the same one twice even though it's a small town/village setting. I hope I get to see the last one I saw again, she was the most knowledgeable and not all cuddly like the previous ones. I'm very apprehensive too because of previous complications last time and seeing the midwife every 8 weeks seems like too little!

Don’t you see the midwife until your 39 weeks now Op?

Rainbowhairdontcare · 26/08/2019 08:43

I won't see her until 34, last time time I saw her was either 26 or 28 weeks can't remember.

At 31 weeks I've seen a midwife three times and 2 scans. I think it's pretty standard.

It is fairly standard. We're left to our own devices really and just to get in contact if something changes. I've an American friend who can't get over the level of care here in terms of appointments vs the US

afternoontwee · 26/08/2019 11:18

I’ve only put on 4.5kg total this pregnancy (39 weeks at the mo) thanks to being sick throughout. My midwife was really pleased by this which I found a bit odd? But the growth of the baby has been perfect throughout and all scans look great so not to worry according to them.

secretlyhermione · 26/08/2019 11:46

I'm in the same position as you OP. Am 32 weeks and have put on 7 kilos. Baby is completely in the median range for where he/she should be at this stage so I'm not too worried. None of my doctors have said anything and I feel they would mention it if it were a problem, so don't worry!

KJ1988 · 27/08/2019 11:04

I've put on 11.5lbs / 5.2kgs so far and am 28 weeks.
I didn't gain anything in the First Trimester, so that was all Trimester 2. I literally could not stop eating! I'm hoping to keep overall weight gain under 2 stone which was my aim before upon finding out I was pregnant and I hope i'll manage that.
It's Baby No. 1 for me so not sure what to expect in Trimester 3. Some say you gain most of your weight... others say that baby gains most of it's weight but your own weight gain tails off. Any one have any experiences from Prior Pregnancies on this one?

Shefliesonherownwings · 27/08/2019 11:08

I am 30+2 and at my last appointment with midwife (29 weeks), I had gained 4kg since booking in which was when i was about 7-8 weeks. Midwife said average weight gain is 15kg total and 4kg at this stage was completely normal. Baby and I were in the middle range for absolutely everything in terms of size and checks so I wouldn't worry too much. I'm sure someone would have said if there were any concerns.

DancingUnicorn1 · 27/08/2019 11:09

I'm 35 weeks and have only gained 3lbs. I lost nearly a stone in the first few weeks and have only just got back up to (and slightly over!) my booking in weight.

I was a little overweight to start with and midwives and consultant aren't bothered in the slightest. Baby is growing well and that's what matters.

Pinkflipflop85 · 27/08/2019 11:34

I'm 32 weeks and have lost weight in this pregnancy (unintentional). Baby is average weight, nobody is concerned about my weight so all is good.

muddlingmyway · 27/08/2019 19:38

As others have said, wouldn’t worry at all so long as you and midwives are happy with growth, movements etc. I started at a healthy weight and put on about 4 kg in total my whole pregnancy - recently gave birth to a very average sized baby! Was a few kgs less than pre pregnancy weight after having baby.

ParkheadParadise · 27/08/2019 19:45

With Dd2 I didn't know I was pregnant until I was 5mths. I lost weight towards the end of the pregnancy due to bereavement.
Dd2 was healthy but small.

Spam88 · 27/08/2019 20:56

My target weight gain is 7-11kg, last time I gained 7kg.

Rainbowhairdontcare · 28/08/2019 07:11

I wouldn't mind losing a bit of extra weight once I give birth. Especially if I have to have a C-section.
