Been bleeding since Wednesday which started as brown only when wiping after a wee (sorry tmi) had a referral to the epu and they said they could see the sac but I was too early for them to see anything else. I was given advice to not panic and to come back in 10 days.

Fast forward to today, felt something move so went to the toilet and passed a big clot. Rang 111 and they got me in to see an out of hours gp who said with everything I've said he thinks I'm having a miscarriage.

He's got me an appt at epu to confirm for Wednesday (with it being bank holiday that's the soonist) and been sent home again to wait.

I feel like such a failure and worried. I'm getting so much cramping also now. I am 5weeks 6days

Hi.

I’m so sorry to hear that you are going through this. I started bleeding Friday night with cramping and some clots. I’ve still got bleeding now like a period. The cramps and pain were nothing like I’ve experienced before and were excruciating. It lasted through the night. With only mild cramping Saturday. And no cramping or pain today but still bleeding.
I’ve spoken to a GP and they’ve said it sounds like a complete miscarriage.
With the bank holiday weekend I didn’t try and get a scan because I know deep down I’ve lost this pregnancy and I know that there’s nothing they can do for me now.

I was 5weeks and 5 days.

I just really shit but I have to remind myself that T this stage there is nothing to be done.

X

So sorry to hear that you're going through this and sending hugs.

I would just say, even if you're sure that it's a complete miscarriage, it really is with going to the EPU appointment, because they can make sure for you that there's nothing "left behind" (sorry to be a bit graphic).

If you get any severe pain or fever, I'd go to A and E or an out of hours, but it's probably not worth it otherwise - hanging around in a waiting room is the last thing you want to do when this is happening.

Practical tips: make sure you have some heavy-duty sanitary towels; keep a light-reading book/magazines/radio in the bathroom in case you need to park yourself there for a while; try and make sure you've got someone with you.

If it's any consolation, I had two mc very close together and was so despondent that DP and I decided to wait for a while before trying again. At which point, I got pregnant again "by accident" and the result was DD, born in June!

Thank you @bellainthemiddle

Sorry to ask @rkay2 but are you bleeding a lot?? I'm not, I've had heavier periods. I guess it will only get heavier if I am. But definitely follow up with an epu hun, like pp said at least u know if anything is left x all the best hun

OP, with both of my mc I did bleed quite a lot - but they were a bit further on (10 weeks and 8 weeks) so that might make the difference.

Sorry @FirstPregnancy36yo I didn’t sound very encouraging. I was writing in a rush.

Cramping can be a normal sign of pregnancy.
Also you are not a failure whatever happens.

My cramps were worse than my usually period cramps. And I’ve lost the sore breasts.

My bleed was heavy Friday night and Saturday day time. Has slowed down now and is like a period.

I will arrange to make sure nothing is left behind on Tuesday as I already had a GP appointment to start the process but now it’ll be something different.

I know of a few people that have bled in early pregnancy and they’ve gone on to have a successful pregnancy

  • but the bleeds and symptoms are so person specific that it’s just a horrible case of waiting it out

Be kind to yourself x
