Brown when wiping at 5 weeks

Just wondering if anyone else has had this and if it means that I will start miscarrying soon

I rang the epu and they said to wait and see if it got worse or red. That was yesterday morning and I've not had any more but have gone into protective mode and done very little. The day before I was very active

I'm now in limbo and they can't do any scans until post 6 weeks anyway

The epu said it could be implantation bleed but I did have a tiny spot of that about 2 weeks ago so I think this would be too late

Haven't dtd or anything that could have caused it

Any advice appreciated

Brown blood is old blood. I bled in all my pregnancies. Take it easy and try not to worry. If it does get worse at 6 weeks ring epu.

Hi,

I had exactly the same thing - I had brown spotting between 5-7 weeks. At around 7 weeks I also had a red blood when I wiped a couple of times.
I was also convinced I was miscarrying after having 2 previous miscarriages.

I had a scan at 7 weeks and everything was absolutely fine. They said brown blood is old blood and nothing to worry about. They also said if there wasn't enough blood to warrant wearing a sanitary towel and the blood was only there when wiping, then not to worry.

Hope that helps, but know how petrifying it is x

I had brown blood at 6 weeks and a scan and everything was fine. I then had brown blood again at 8 weeks and went to EPU and again everything fine but they found a heamatoma that could have been the reason for the bleed. This week at 11 weeks I had red blood and again another scan and all fine and the haematoma was gone. If it's brown blood and has stopped I would try not to worry too much. You only need to worry if it's lots of fresh blood. My brow bleeding often stopped as quickly as it came. I know the first time you see it is scary. I was crying all the way to the scan. But I've seen lots of people experience it.

I had brown spotting when wiping for nearly all of my fifth and sixth week. I’m currently 11 weeks pregnant and have had two scans after the bleeding and all is well. Sometimes it’s just the bodies way of getting rid of old blood hanging about. This baby came straight after miscarriage so I know how hard it’s is to see any blood. But unless it gets heavier, redder or painful try not to worry x

Bled form 5-11 weeks, now nearly 14 weeks and all good. EPU told me over half women bleed in early pregnancy, mine was heavy at times and I had to wear a pad all the time.

I’m 12 weeks and have had all sorts of bleeding since 6 weeks, brown, pink, light, a massive bright red bleed and as of my last scan at 10 weeks everything is fine.

I know it’s really difficult but try not to worry.

Hi, I had this at 5 weeks and after having had a mc last year I was really worried and rang EPU. They scanned me a day later and everything was fine and then again 2 weeks later just to be sure and again all progressing well.
It carried on until about week 9. The midwife also said it was old blood and suggested it could be an implantation bleed that has just taken its time to come out. It confused me too.
I’m 26 weeks now and little one is currently jabbing me in the ribs 😊
If you have any doubt, just give your midwife a ring to put your mind at rest xx

Update on this

The brown stopped for 4 days but this morning at 6 weeks had bright red after bm so I think that's the end

Sadly am on holiday in the middle of nowhere at the moment and can't get a scan privately or at hospital unless I get severe pains or more blood

Am not in pain and small amount of bleeding so I am just going to ride it out and try and get a referral when I get home

My boobs have stopped hurting and I feel less tired so I'm pretty sure I've miscarried
