Waters broke at 25 weeks due to infection

Hi all,
I just wanted some advice Incase someone else on here as been through the same thing! My waters broke yesterday morning after a few days of complaining about severe back pain. A blood test showed I have signs of an infection, so I was started on antibiotics for the infection, magnesium sulphate and steroids for the baby. The pains have calmed significantly and I've been moved off the delivery suite onto the ante natal ward. This sounds hopeful?? I am having my bloods checked again today to check on the infection. Has anyone else experienced this? What was the outcome? Does anyone think I will be able to hold on to my baby for a little while longer until she gets stronger?? I am totally freaking out right now

Hi OP, unfortunately I can’t offer much advice as I’ve never given birth early, but my heart goes out to you Flowers

I do know that each day baby can hang in there in the womb is beneficial, and if they have moved you off the delivery ward that does indeed sound positive :) And if your contractions have stopped that’s great!

I’m honestly not sure exactly how long they can keep baby in there without waters; my friend’s water also went early apparently due to infection (they have yet to give her a definite answer though) and she was told she would be having a c section a couple of days after being in hospital. She was in the third trimester though so I’m not sure that will apply to you.

Really hope everything will be alright and please know it most likely will. Flowers

Hi OP - my sister-in-law gave birth to her first at 25+2. She was complaining of really bad back pain for ages - only when she got to hospital did they tell her they were contractions! They've not really found out why she went into labour so early but the hospital suspect it was triggered by an infection too.

Baby is now a healthy 11mo (7mo corrected date) - admittedly it hasn't been easy for my sister-in-law but baby recieved really good care in two different neonatal units and mum and dad recieved lots of support too. I know it may not be want you want to hear but if baby does come early hopefully it's not as risky as I may have been years ago.

Sending lots of best wishes to you xxx

Hi both, so the baby has been born! All very whirlwind since I posted that message, turns out I was fully dilated and they could see the baby’s head so there was no waiting really, she’s been taken away to neonatal and I am waiting to see her and see how she’s doing

Congratulations OP. Not as early as you but I had my DD at 29weeks. She is now 34 and a mum to 3. It will be scary the first time you see her in the incubator. Make sure you able to touch her hand or foot for contact.
Have you a name for your daughter. X

Awww congratulations @sashakoby!! That's such exciting news ❤❤ best wishes to you and your little bubba! Hopefully you'll be able to cuddle her soon xxxx

sashakoby · 25/08/2019 14:51

Thanks! I hope I can cuddle her too! It’s a helpless feeling not being able to do everything for your new baby, I just hope she can fight through. I don’t have a name for her yet, but I am looking!! And I want to make her a little premature hat in cotton so she’s comfortable. Thank you all for your well wishes xxxx
