Hi all , pregnant with third baby! Had OC with both children before had grits baby at 37 weeks and second 35 weeks, this was over ten years ago, I have now got no gallbladder (I wonder if this makes a difference?) this baby is also with a different partner (also wonder if this does?) I'm 23+ weeks and had itching early on but tests all clear not had any test since June and have started to itch! Just wondered if anyone had experienced this?? As it's a while I realise things have changed even the name!?? Grin

Hi OP I was diagnosed with obstetric choleostasis in my last pregnancy. The itching started really late I was diagnosed at 33 weeks. The plan was that I would be induced at 37 weeks and they weren’t happy for me to go past this.

I ended up having DS at 36 weeks due to reduced movements. I had weekly consultant appointments and blood tests to check my bile levels and LFTs, and had medication to take which helped a lot with the itching.

I didn’t have any complications in my first pregnancy, once the itching started with DS2 I rang triage and they invited me in for a blood test.

I’d have thought with your history that they should be testing you if you are itching - I was told that if you have it once then you are more likely to have it in subsequent pregnancies.

Yep I had in both pregnancy's! And with second was really severe! It's a long time (11years) since my last child so obv I know lots changes!
I had itching at 14 weeks blood test came back normal! Rechecked at 17 weeks again totally clear! So had nothing since (23wk now) will ring midwife Tuesday for a blood test! My itching at minute is just my legs (lower) and my arms I am marking them it's that bad! Did you have a normal delivery? My inductions both failed so ended up with emergency c section both times so this time will be a planned section which consultant had booked me a 37 week appointment to book it in which seems crazy considering my history!!

With dd1 I was under a consultant and he was happy for me to go to 40 weeks. She was born at 40+2
With dd2 I wasn't formally diagnosed until very late despite 2x bloods per week from 30 weeks onwards. At 37+4 they said they wanted to keep me in & I hadn't even finished work coz I was expecting to go to 40 weeks. I negotiated 38 weeks exactly & dd2 was born 38+3.

I had a planned section. I wasn’t happy with being induced, I suspected it wouldn’t have worked at 37 weeks & I didn’t want to risk baby getting distressed and ending up with an emergency section. Plus if it did fail i’d Have ended up in theatre anyway. I also had gestational diabetes which, like choleostasis increases the chances of baby becoming distressed in labour. After DS was born he had really low blood sugars and I think even if an induction had worked he would have become distressed.

They were quite happy for me to have the section and it was a lovely birth - really relaxed and so different from DS1 who had been a long labour & was a forceps delivery.

My section was booked at my 35 week appointment

Yes this will be a planned c section with been my third but I am worried as I had PPH after my son and it terrified me!! I had g at 36 weeks , I can't believe. The consultant let the lady go to 40 weeks! So scary
