I keep craving meat and haven't eaten meat in 2/3 years.... Has anyone ever given in to this when pregnant ?

I'm vegan and I just ate more food with iron in! It worked.

I'd never start eating meat again because I'm vegan for the animals.

Hi! So glad you said this!!
I've been craving and giving into meat! Never had with other pregnancy's but have had it when I wanted tbh it's rubbish I crave like hot dogs!! I've been veggi for 22 years!! However I don't do it for the animals I just don't like meat so I don't feel bad eating it :)

I caved at about 16 weeks. Was feeling completely run down after getting over morning sickness and eating crap. I had a Sunday roast in a pub and I swear the beef sorted me out!

I couldn’t cook meat myself and I had to really detach from the fact it was meat. I’m veggie because it makes me feel guilty.

Oh I ate a sausage sandwich a week later too, I have no excuse about feeling ill for that one, I just cracked and it really hit the spot. I’d been really sick after quorn sausages a couple of weeks earlier so maybe that swung it.

I’ve decided I’ll stay majority veggie and wouldn’t cook meat in the home, but I’m going to try not to beat myself up about the occasional bit when I eat out, maybe once every couple of weeks if I really fancy it.

I also caved. Will go back when no longer pregnant.

Vegan here, craving chicken! 😭 You're not alone Flowers

@sandytoes84 @Cuppa12345 have you told people you ate meat or are you trying to keep it to yourself ?
@aliensprig it's so hard!!

No, I've been honest about it. Pregnancy is hard enough without making yourself feel guilty or pretending to other people. Just do what you need. It's a few months. I'm not tucking into steak every night but I have eaten the odd bit of meat when I've felt like I wanted to.

sandytoes84 · 21/08/2019 14:03

Yeah I’ve been honest - even came clean with a slightly judgy colleague. Not so upfront with family though or I’ll have them shoving it down my throat ‘now I eat meat’

There’s probably something to be said for having a secret vice, since you have to be so well behaved in pregnancy Wink
