Weird buttons on maternity cardie?!

My SIL gave me a bunch of lovely maternity clothes at the weekend, including a gorgeous waterfall cardie from JoJo. I'm really confused though - it has one button on the outside of one shoulder, and another on the inside of the other shoulder. There are no corresponding button holes that I can see.

Anyone guess what the heck these are for?!

Maybe there was a feeding coverall that came with it originally that hasn’t made it to you?

The idea is probably that you pull one corner up and button it to create a feeding cover aka extra faff layer that will get in your way and the baby will most likely hate

The button hole on the left is at the edge about 3 stripes down. On the right there are two button holes one at the top and one about 5 stripes down. The neck slightly folds over the top of you fasten on lower buttonholes.

My sister gave me the card and it took me a while to find them. It's great after you have your baby as if you baby carry you can wear it over the top of sling.
