Brown discharge at 6 weeks

Hi, I’m 6 weeks pregnant and yesterday had some brown discharge after straining during a bowel movement (sorry TMI I know) but I panicked and went to the emergency room where I was scanned internally and externally. We could see the sac and egg yolk and the doctor said everything is still
In tact but can not confirm if the pregnancy is viable until she does another scan at week 7 to see if there has been growth. Today I had the same issue again after straining.. it’s literally just a small amount of brown discharge after wiping and nothing else, no unusual pains or fresh blood.. has anyone else experienced this?

Yes I am 5 weeks having brown discharge spotting. Midwives said it's quite normal and scan looks fine and they will rescan in 2 weeks. Am trying not to worry.

Best of luck! It’s scary! I keep reading that it’s normal and no one seemed particularly worried yesterday at the emergency room but it’s hard to take your mind of it!

I had exactly as you describe at 6 weeks and when I told my midwife she was totally unconcerned and said it was very common so I didn't even get sent for a scan and everything was fine. Hope everything is ok for you too OP.

That’s really good to hear! I’m glad it all turned out well! It’s possible I’m over sensitive, it’s my first pregnancy so I’ve no idea what to expect ..thanks for the information it’s really helping out my mind at ease! ☺️

@Boston19 I just wrote in another thread asking about something similar. I've had a bit of brown tinged discharge in my underwear today but zero when I wipe and I'm so confused as to where it's come from 🙈

Boston19 · 20/08/2019 16:16

I'm really hoping it's just f I plantation blood or something like that.. I keep reading brown blood is fine but I guess there's no certain answers.. how are you feeling? Have you been checked out? Fingers crossed everything is ok!

I had this with both my pregnancies from week 4/5 through to week 10/11. My boys are now aged 5 and 10! Hope everything is ok but think this is more common than you would think with all the hormone changes going on.

Makingawish · 20/08/2019 16:42

@Boston19 No, not been checked out because I'm only 5 weeks and nowhere will see you until you're at least 6. It's not enough to even call it spotting at this point and nothing there when I wipe so I don't know if it's maybe from my bladder?! 😄 I've felt a lot of sensations really low down today (not cramps and not painful) so maybe it's just things growing!

Boston19 · 20/08/2019 16:47

Hopefully it's just something minor .. fingers crossed for you.. Mine is the same, it's not much literally just when I wiped after going to toilet so I'm thinking it's from straining .. I've had some pain and twinges but nothing that felt unnatural if that makes sense .. and the doctors had said the things I had felt is very common in early pregnancy .. it's the waiting that gets you

I had little bit of brown discharge at about 10 weeks, apparently it's old blood so nothing to worry about. Bright red blood - not good news

Boston19 · 20/08/2019 19:14

Is everything going ok with your pregnancy now?

I had the same with both of mine!

Piffpaffpoff · 20/08/2019 20:26

Yes, I had that fora few days. All was fine. Fingers crossed for you.

Boston19 · 20/08/2019 20:48

Thanks ladies! You're all really calming my nerves! Just can't wait to get the next scan now to be sure!
