As it won’t be touching scalp should be fine. It’s best to wait till second trimester if doing full hair. Tell them you are pregnant though as sometimes the colour takes differently in pregnancy. X

The NHS has plenty of guidance on this here: www.nhs.uk/common-health-questions/pregnancy/is-it-safe-to-use-hair-dye-when-i-am-pregnant-or-breastfeeding/

But in short yes it’s safe :)

I debated for AGES and eventually had my hair done in foils at 5 weeks. It meant no due touched my head bar the washing it out stage which my hairdresser did really quickly for me. I told her I was pregnant & she was really careful.

The guidelines suggest it’s ok, so in the end I went for it as I knew I was likely to get Hyperemesis again and wouldn’t be able to face a hairdressers for a few months! Sure enough, it happened. I may look like a zombie but my hair is at least a nice colour Blush

NHS says it's fine, might be worth having a patch test though - even if you've had it done many times before - as you can suddenly become sensitive to dyes when pregnant.

Oh no! Hope you find a window of wellness to get your hair done!!

Definitely get a patch test, many women get sensitivity reactions to dyes even after lots of use as the hormones change tolerance.

Tell the hairdresser. Call tomorrow. Some hairdressers get nervous (they haven’t educated themselves on the safety of 2019 hair dyes! 🙄) about colouring in the first trimester...but ALL the evidence is that it’s COMPLETELY safe.

Also, as per first factor, it is possible that bleach takes differently. I have bleach to the scalp, I’m dark blonde so it usually takes about 30mins to lift. But since getting pregnant, it takes maybe 15-20mins max....I barely have a chance to drink a coffee! 😂
Some women report the dyes changing the texture of their hair....😳
