Swollen 'down below'

Hi all,

I'm 24 weeks tomorrow with second baby, have noticed today I'm very swollen 'down below', it's uncomfortable to wipe after having a wee it just feels a bit achey?! I don't remember feeling this with my first so just wanted some reassurance it's normal!
I have midwife on Wednesday anyway so will double check with her but was hoping someone may just be able to put my mind at rest... I'm so much more anxious with this pregnancy than I was last time!!

Also if it helps I have spent the day shopping with my mum so done a lot more walking that I normally would... wondering if that's made a bit of a difference?

Sounds like it could be a varicose vein, or the beginnings of one! Pregnancy is so glamorous, definitely ask your midwife if it’s still bothering you this week!

I had this, it wasn’t varicose veins - just generally more blood rushing to the area I guess. Swelling disappeared as soon as DC was born. I wouldn’t worry at all.

I am a bit swollen too been that way for abou 10wks now its normal although this is the first time its happend to me.

I'm 23+1 and noticed this on Saturday. Am very swollen and achey down there, moreso on the right side. I've made an appointment with my GP tomorrow so will see what he says. I'm thinking mine might be a varicose vein of some sort though Blush Mine also seemed to appear after a couple of days involving lots of walking. I find a warm bath helps a little and resting as much as possible but going to see if my GP can give me any cream that'll help as it's so uncomfortable and sore Sad

Thankyou everybody you have made me feel a bit better! I just had a minor panic there as I can't believe how huge it all feels Blush

I will mention to the midwife but I have a quiet day tomorrow so will maybe check it again and see if it's any different after a quieter day!

Isn't pregnancy just full of joys! HmmConfused

I have just had exactly the same symptoms! I’m 26 weeks and felt so heavy and swollen . Never had anything like this with my first. I’ve seen the doctor and I have two vulval varacocies, which is basically varicose veins in the vulva, and I was told I had really bad thrush. 5 days post thrush treatment I feel so much better. Still a bit swollen, but nothing like I felt before. I’m sure your midwife will be able to check and give you some advice, so don’t worry.

I had this throughout my pregnancy, it came and went. I think its just the extra blood flow.

secretlyhermione · 20/08/2019 10:46

Interesting, I think I may have this as well... I put it down to very bad thrush but after over a week on the pessary it's still super swollen, and I've never had anything like this before! I'm seeing my GP today so will get a second opinion. Pregnancy is so glamorous!

I've had this twice, annoyingly ended up as spd.
