about at the end of my rope with this pregnancy can't go on

my hyperemesis is so bad i've spent two weeks in hospital and i feel awful. The strain on us as a family is unbearable and i can't be a mother to my ds. I can't carry on i really can't

10 weeks taking metaproclomide and stematil, it's helping a bit but i haven't the strength to do anything.

Ds is being passed from pillar to post and dh broke down last night i don't know what to do except th eobvious but not sure i can live with that

Connor - sorry cannot be more help. But all i can say is hold on in there. Have googled and found the link below and they seem to have forums specially to support women with hyperemesis. Maybe they will have more advice/ cpoing strategies?

i have been given vitamin b to take aswell. the hospital were actually very good it's just putting such an enormous strain on the family.

i'm very lucky as my mum is going to take ds for two weeks but i feel so guilty.

i keep thinking about a termination and then i feel awful but i can't help it.

someone mentioned zofran but the doctors haven't offered it. Would my gp prescribe it or would i need to go back to hospital?

You're doing a brilliant, brilliant job - hyperemesis is a vile, vile thing to have and you must NOT feel guilty about not spending time with DS, or about anything else.

How was your last pregnancy? Did you have it then? How did you find the later stages of pregnancy?

You'll need to ask re Zofran - it's very expensive and it's usually a last resort - but it's been a wonderdrug to many with hyperemesis.

But if you're considering termination - you MUST be prescribed this, IMO.

thanks for the advice on the zofran i will go to the doctors tomorrow and lay it on the line with them.

I had HG with ds it lasted til about 16/17 weeks then i was generally fine

Zofran is fantastic, but does need pushing for- I didnt have it (avomine worked for me after a few didn't- usually takes a few tries to find the right one) but I actually know someone who was saved from suidice by this medicine, its amazing

Its normal to contemplate termination, many people do, I did even. Please don't feel bad about that.

Are you getting lots of rest and managing to keep fluids down atm- ce opops, melon that sort of thing? Thats really all that matters, the rest can look after themselves- and its such a short amount of time. Dh looked after ds2 single handedly whilst I was amost comatose on the sofa expecting ds2 (ds1 was 5 months when I conceived and GP put me on strong meds), but it was the only way and it was so very worth it in the end

I had hyperemesis and although I didn't end up in hospital, my DH had a breakdown at the same time and it was all too much to cope with. All I can say is that it will get better even if it doesn't feel like it right now...

am doing fairly well with the fluids (fruitshoots ) and have even managed a few cheese and biscuits and some melon.

Forgot to say, have you tried eating jelly? I found that a bearable way of getting fluids into me but I appreciate everybody's different...

I am not sure that Zofran would be prescribes before 12 weeks - it is not licensed for use in pregnancy. Would like to see any info anybody has on it.

Acupuncture can be very effective - your GP could refer you for that.

Stick in there - it will improve very soon.

Jelly is a good one

melon is an excellent way of getting fluids, as is lettuce believe it or not. hot and cold extremes are also often useful (im pg at the moment- not actually been sick yet (how amazing? after three medicated pg's! Only 6 weeks but ahve been hospitalised at this atge before) and find that whenever I feel queasy a really hot chocolate helps. Ohter people rely on ice cubes. Most people seem to thrive on lucozade as well if it can be kept down

Mears if you look at that site that was linked to earlier, there is info on Zofran on there. I have heard of it being prescribed before 12 weeks, though usually incases where Mum is considering termination otherwise as a last resort.

Sadly HG doesn't usually clear at 12 weeks , 16 - 20 is mroe common in my experience from mums I have taken calls from, although 12 weeks isn't unheard of
