5 weeks tomorrow and bleeding

Hi, I found out just over a week ago I’m pregnant however today I have started to spot. It’s only when I go to the toilet and wipe but I haven’t stopped crying since I first saw the blood at lunchtime today.

I never had anything like this with my first. I phoned the midwife who basically just said they couldn’t do much as too early to scan but to phone back if the bleeding got worse.

It’s still there when I go to the toilet but nothing in the pad. Any advice?

Please try not to worry, if your only 5 weeks tomorrow baby could still be implanting. I had 2 days of light spotting at 6 weeks, that then went away (I'm now 9+2)
Like your midwife says as long as it doesn't become heavy and accompanied by severe pains it's likely nothing. Try and relax x

I had spotting during my first trimester with my DD. My mum told me she bled her entire pregnancy with my sister. Stressful, but not necessarily anything sinister. These early weeks obviously are quite fragile, but I wouldn’t be panicking yet (or at least I’d TRY not to panic, haha!).

@MockingJay27 thank you for your kind words. With my 5 year old I never had any sort of bleeding at all so I’m totally freaking out and waiting for it to get heavy. I feel like I’m getting light cramps but I don’t know if it’s in my mind.

@UpToMyElbowsInDiapers thank you for reassurance. It just doesn’t feel right but it started at lunch and hasn’t got any heavier or isn’t different at all. Not sure if that’s a good sign or not.

Just desperate for it to stop. They won’t scan me for another week I don’t think.

I had exactly that at 5 weeks with my second. Had an early scan and all was fine. Hope yours is too

@June1987 light cramps at 5 weeks are completely normal! If they become severe and heavy bleeding then go to hospital. If not just keep an eye on it but please don't worry. Spotting is quite common

@hairyturkey thank you I’m praying and keeping everything crossed that it will be ok.

@MockingJay27 I’ve put a pad in to monitor if it goes on to the pad at all. At the moment my parents have our son and hubby and I just laying in bed trying to relax.

Is this how a miscarriage starts or does it start full on bleeding straight away?

@June1987 I've never had one but please don't jump to conclusions like I say I really panicked and I didn't need to. It's more common that you'd think x

Thanks for your support, however woke up this morning and looks like a miscarrisge im heavier so pretty much devaststed

Please don't worry yet. I had heavy bleeding in both my pregnancies at around the 5/6 week mark and all was ok. Please don't lose hope before your scan

@Kannet thank you. I’m having cramps too so doesn’t feel normal.

Phoned the midwives back and she said if it’s still the same this afternoon to ring back and they will organise an early scan for me. Not holding out much hope though.
