Varicose veins and/or blood clot experiences?

Hi, I’m 27 weeks pregnant and went to my GP last week as I’ve suddenly developed bad varicose veins in my right leg and my right knee was swollen and painful. He sent me to A&E and I was put on clexane. I had an ultrasound which couldn’t see a clot but have a repeat scan this week due to my knee being sore. My blood results also came back positive for a clot (although apparently this can be common in pregnancy?)

Does anyone have any experience of either and do they just monitor you? If it’s just varicose veins I had no idea they could be so painful! Any tips or stories welcomed! Xx

Hi, I have had varicose veins in my left leg which have developed during pregnancy. My GP wasnt taking it very seriously so I went to A&E (as I was concerned about a blood clot) who did a ultrasound and blood tests (which were all fine). I am now 30 weeks and my left leg has a varicose vein and the skin around it is red, I have no pain. I think they are tricky to monitor in pregnancy as your blood levels could be raised in pregnancy. I am wearing support stockings and keeping an eye on it. My GP has given me some cream which has done nothing. I will discuss it with the midwife next week and perhaps go back to the GP.

I never had any pain but if it is painful I would definitely say go to your GP/midwife immediately.
