Sterilisation after section

Has anyone done this? Is it straight forward? I am considering doing this after my section. 36 next year, single mum to three I will be and absolutely no plans whatsoever to put my body through a third section or have anymore babies. I wouldn’t have more even if I did have a partner.

Just curious if anyone else has done this and if it’s straight forward. Thank you xx

I had one done while having my third section. No complications at all. Everything was straight forward too.

Brilliant! Thank you! I think it’s the most sensible option! I can’t see them refusing like my friends think! This is my third baby. I’m mid forties and I know I don’t want anymore sections/babies. Surely they can’t say no?? Xx

In my trust, you can absolutely have tubal ligation done during the c/section itself. So long as the rest of the surgery is going well that is. The ligation itself only takes an extra 10 or so minutes as well.

You still have to be counselled of the pros and cons, so it has to have been requested before you sign your consent form. Ideally before the day itself.

Not had this done yet but I have been asked if I want to be sterilized after my section.
I'm 33 and this will be my 3rd so definitely don't want any more.
My sister was sterilized after her section and she was only 28 at the time so I don't think you'll have an issue.

Think it depends on your age and how many babies you already have. I asked for it, and had consultations before my second c section, but they said due to my age (early 30's) and only being my 2nd, they wouldn't do the procedure. I think if I'd fought for it, they may have agreed, and I was truly adamant I 100% wouldn't have another. After dd2 was born though, I had a sudden rush of wanting another baby, and for 6 months was convinced I did want another... Soon wore off though 😅! But during that time, I can imagine it could have been quite upsetting if I had of had the procedure and the option for another would have been taken away. I still would like it done, but it's quite invasive surgery if you're going in just for that, obviously makes far more sense to have it done during section, when you're already prised open!
