What should I expect. I have consultant appt for next week (I'll be 16 weeks) after a loop biopsy or LLETZ I had

In 2017. What will they do? Has any one had this and can offer any advice? Nothing has been explained to me at all. Just a letter with the appointment dropped through the door

They will just talk over options with you and say what recommendations are. You may only need too see consultant once. I have to see them every 3-4 weeks due to another health condition but they really weren’t concerned about the loop procedure at all with me. It’s nothing scary, tends to be a lot of waiting about to be seen though so be prepared for that. We were nearly 2 hours once.

The first appointment is usually a meet and greet where they ask questions about the procedure - I was in there 5 minutes. And then they booked me in for a scan for two weeks later and I had an internal scan to check my cervix was doing what it should be and everything looked fine so I was discharged. Don't worry to much about it x

Hi OP I hope you don't mind me asking, but did you ask to get referred or did your midwife refer you at your 12 week appt? I had LLETZ in 2017 (currently 11 weeks) and at my booking in appointment my midwife didn't look too concerned when I told her Confused

MrsB899 · 18/08/2019 23:01

@gingerbiscuitqueen the midwife just referred me. They asked about previous smears and said I'd need referring at 16 weeks but that's all she said so I'm a bit in limbo about what to expect

I had a LLETZ in 2017 too, must depend on area what they do. I'm 25 weeks and told my midwife at booking in. She said for one procedure it would be very unlikely to have affected anything and they weren't concerned.

Hi,
I had a LLETZ in 2017 (6 months after my last child). Saw the consultant at 12 weeks (due to also having pre eclampsia in last pregnancy) they recommended 2 weekly scans which started at 16 weeks to monitor my cervix.
My first one I measure 2.6cm, second 2.9cm and then my 3rd was 2.1cm. The cut off for treatment is 2.5cm length.
I was then taken to the day unit and seen by the consultant who recommended I have a cervical cerclage the next day. (20+6).
If you want me to share more about the op then I'm more than happy too.

Hope this helps!

@PopF1992 really helpful. Thank you. I'm probably being really thick but how do they measure the cervix?

Hello! I had LLetz last year. I had a consultant appt at 12 weeks and have a scan next week to measure my cervix. It's just an internal scan like an early pregnancy one where they can measure the cervix length. I had one at my 12 week scan too.
